Also having to have “the talk” so they don’t get freaked out when they first see those instances.

I love that you can just interact with people who’ve been brainwashed by different propaganda from yourself on here. It can give you perspective on your own inherent biases, even if they’re not as severe as giving the ML Pass to dictators who are not even vaguely communist.
Blocking hexbear has nothing to do with a difference in ideas. Hexbear gets blocked because it hosts communities of some of the most obnoxious, unrepentant trolls known to the internet. Lemmygrad and .ml get blocked because said trolls made alts when instances got fed up and defederated from hexbear.
It’s like the Khmer Rouge’s version of 2004s era /b/. There is nothing to be gained from interacting with those people.

I don’t get the fear and hatred of hexbear. It’s not particularly different than any other online community of leftists.
It feels very pythonesque, like the whole rivalry between The Judean People’s Front VS The People’s Front of Judea in Life of Brian.
We’re very loud and correct, and no one is more hated than the person who is loud and correct.
We’re weird and smelly and that makes them jealous
We’re all a little bit dorty
they probably unironically have done the “what have the romans ever done for us” bit on .ml because most .world nazis aren’t aware this is a communist platform made by communists
Thing is, when these people say “online community of leftists” they mean like r/politics
