Nathan Jones, A.K.A. Diamond Dog. Former general of the Black Guerillas. He blew up a meeting of the National Rifle Association saying, and I quote, “They represented the basest negativity of the white race.” He wrote a book in prison called, “Reflections in a Diamond Eye.” New York Times called it a wakeup call for the black community. They’re talking to Denzel for the movie.

That movie is basically a cartoon. It’s so much fun. The rock is my favorite cage action movie from that era but con air is also great.
Something I really appreciated watching con air recently was how it’s dominated by practical effects. Like they actually blew up a casino in Vegas for the finale. All that shit would be computers now.
I get that watching any pre 2005 shitty action movie. It’s all practical. I get my money’s worth because they’re blowing real cars up. Dudes are getting hit. Sometimes there’s a dummy but even then it’s got soul.
I even get it with Steven Seagal movies. We have fallen so far.
I also like the post-USSR pre-911 American action movie genre because the bad guys are more often bad elements of American society instead of racialized bad guy countries. Like in the rock, the bad guys are US marines that have gone rogue. That is inconceivable post 911.
according to wikipedia about “The Rock”. shit like this just doesnt happen anymore because everything is greenscreen and cgi
True, unless it’s the CIA vs FBI trope. Or the good NYPD cop vs the corrupt FBI.
future film historians will view CGI effects and the popularity of the MCU as cancers on filmmaking
Guys are getting thrown forward by explosions in slow motion with a wire, arms spreading out slowly as they fly up
