Anyway, this cat is so sweet, so much nicer than our other cats who are so very grumpy. She has kinda swung at both of them though but tbh they start shit, she just runs up and puts her face up on them like she wants to be friends and they’re all hiss hiss hiss.
But so far we haven’t seen any serious fight (so far) and they seem to be slowly acclimating so i think they’ll get there (edit: while typing this Mary jane decided to be a huge creep and hiss at squiddie in the litterbox! she’s just trying to take a shit!)
I tell you hwut though, Squidward is a fucking hunger demon. And stinky! She has nervous farts or something and will just like do a drive by crop dusting
Both of those might be due to recovering from roundworms but idk it’s been a couple weeks since treatment so she should be recovered soonish if not already. She might just be a stinky hungry little demon
is there something about tuxedo cats that just make them insatiable black holes for food? We’re even giving her extra (like 1.5x what we’re giving Mary jane) and she’s constantly hungry and looking for food or trying to steal our food. She gets real fuckin assertive about it, too, like, she tried to stick her face in my partner’s mouth after she ate a sandwich just because she smelled salami
The lying machine suggested feeding her unseasoned canned pumpkin or green beans to give her bulky fiber that would be filling but idk if that’s some bullshit it’s making up

If she’s growing, she’s hungry. If she’s pregnant, she’s super hungry. If she has worms, she’s super hungry.
There’s also food competition, where a cat that feels threatened by other cats is going to devour everything they can since they’re expecting other cats to steal it.
Idk what you’re feeding but you could free-feed with dry kibble for a while to get them used to the idea that there’s always enough food around; worked for me with my cats, but then they get annoying if that’s not maintained–and depends on cats that will limit their own intake.

the worms should be dead/dying as they reach her intestines so hopefully less of a factor, recent pregnancy/nursing should be a factor because I think she juuust finished nursing a few days before we took her in
that could explain all of it but it’s been a a couple weeks since the worm treatment and 3ish weeks since nursing (and her breast development has entirely gone away at this point)

oh no I don’t think we can do that, like, our big cat MJ literally never seems to stop eating. once on the holidays I was like lets let you eat whatever you want you big fucker and I just kept filling her bowl and like I had to cut her off at a point i felt like she would be harming herself. maybe that would go away if they had a mountain of food but like… idk. she’s like 10 years old and has never exhibited self control around food
the new cat seems to be the same way. I’m kinda hoping it’s still the worms/recent hormonal changes/etc and she settles down because like, for real, I say she’s a sweetheart but she’s a fucking mean little bandit when it comes to food, exhibiting 1000x the audacity in her attempts to steal than anything Mary Jane (big fat thief) ever did
edit: also might just be a her still growing thing. The vet looked at her teeth and was like “wow yeah she’s young” and estimated iirc 1-1.5 years so she could be at the end of her growing phase maybe? it’s one of the reasons I’m making sure to give her extra food and not treat her like MJ (who needs to actively diet)
i dont really understand how it can be stinky. i had a cat whose gut was never quite right and he would drop terrible farts, but his fur didnt stink. does stinky’s fur stink? that should really only happen with intact tomcats.
because if it’s just the farts, well, yes. it is known that what comes out of cats is absolutely terrible.
Cats that have been on the streets sometimes never really learn that there will be more food later
Yeah… I caught my cat off the streets, he has restraint with dry food thankfully, but he scarfs down his wet food. It doesn’t help that his brother doesn’t eat much wet food and just licks the gravy up, so then he eats his brother’s food.
If he eats too fast he vomits too, which is fun

I don’t mind her being so stinky but I’m kinda worried her nervous farts will turn into nervous sharts at some point and that’ll be a bit too much to find cute (if I have to clean it up instead of my partner)
