Jenova is certainly a pun on Jehovah, since Jenova’s Witness is Sephiroth i.e. Sefirot
seems like a stretch to me given Sephiroth’s role is more “Satan” than anything else given JW believe that Jesus (Rufus Shinra) ascended as King of Heaven in 1914 (SHINRA) and Satan (Sephiroth) was subsequently ousted despite originally being the perfect angel (SOLDIER)
Sephiroth isn’t really an adversary to Jenova; he’s actually an agent of her will on the world, hardly a fallen angel.
Though of course Jenova isn’t some loving god. She’s the cataclysm from the stars and Sephiroth is her dark messenger.
I think my childhood would have been less traumatic if it was Jenovas Witness
