I always see those damn tweets, tiktoks, or whatever like “Europeans make fun of American racism but just ask them about Romani people!” And then the entire comment section is just littered with pure racism and slurs and etc. And the people making the posts are never Roma themself.
Like it is just facilitating racism. It is very bad activism. Do you know how much it hurts to see those comments? Would you make a post basically inviting Americans to prove why they hate any certain race… it’s just weird!!! And does absolutely nothing to change Europeans’ minds or help Roma. All it can do is hurt anyone’s feelings who stumbles upon the posts or ‘prove to Americans Europeans are bad too’ and I don’t give a fuck if Americans believe it or not. I just don’t want to see non-Roma giving people a place to be racist as ‘activism’.
So please if you ever see a post like this, don’t spread it further. And don’t make one either please. Sorry for venting but it’s definitely something I’m tired seeing from leftists/liberals.
Those posts have the same energy as all the “asian countries are actually even more racist than the west” posts on reddit. It’s not good to minimize your own country’s problems with racism by comparing them to other countries’ problems, even if it’s just a side effect of a noble cause like owning snobby europeans.
