Only for the dialects that pronounce it gōngren would the two meanings be also pronounced slightly differently. Otherwise, both are pronounced the same, so the distinction would be a mental word break

Very slightly differently, depending on dialect the latter 打+工人 could be gōngrén or gōngren (i.e. toneless for the rén).
Only for the dialects that pronounce it gōngren would the two meanings be also pronounced slightly differently.
