Diogenes slept in a pithos (Think a barrel sized ceramic jar), lived on the street, and claimed to only own one item, a bowl which he used to drink and eat. One day he saw a child drink from his cupped hand, upon seeing which Diogenes broke his bowl and proclaimed that he had been bested by a child.

But it’s just that it’s the message of a contrarian seeming anti materialist. Which is Diogenes’ vibe. It’s not deeper than that.
