So long story short I got woken up this morning by my dad who needed help getting his cat in the carrier for her grooming appt. Fine whatever. While I’m doing it he lays into me about being lazy and awful and about how when he dies (which he said is soon) he wants my brother and sister to sell the house and leave me homeless. Great, wonderful, thanks dad.

So I will get some of his money via inheritance but I’m totally in the dark about renting places. Can I get a place with no proof of income but like proof of what’s in my bank acct. and that I can make payments for a little bit? Say I’d be able to put like a year’s worth of rent upfront? Does that work?

Did not want to talk about or think about this today but yet again I’m at the whims of my stupid fucking father.

Stop blowing all your sorosbux on hexbear gold.

If you stand to inherit 5-6 figures and your plan is “guess I’ll pay rent until this runs out”, you should at least consider if you can use that money to make a property purchase instead. There’s all sorts of low income homebuyer assistance programs in blue states like MD. You could put $30k down on a house, a local gov/nonprofit will match it with a grant or 0% loan, and you get to live in your own home.

A comrade here posted about how they’re a property manager for section 8 housing and some of their clients only pay $30/month in rent. The new deal and great society haven’t been entirely gutted yet, there are few and far between assistance programs out there.

Capitalism is an awful demon and predator that only knows how to sink its fangs into bank accounts. Try to get a step ahead of it.
