he can say whatever liberal shit he wants as long as he keeps doing this stuff, because we know he’s not the end goal.
So as long as the material conditions for people in NYC improve, he can co-sign whatever western talking point he wants then? That’s not acceptable to me. It makes every step forward feel hollow, because I have to wonder when this will happen again.
Zohran is popular and likeable, people listen to what he says. For a lot of people, he’ll be their introduction into socialism. When he says Cuba is run by a repressive dictator, people will accept that. Sure, it’s on us to dispel the misinformation, but we won’t reach everyone that he does. In my opinion, we can’t be tepid about this. He’s doing good things, but there needs to be serious accountability for throwing international solidarity out in the process.
American leftist will rain down fire and brimstone and yell about the crimes of Europe and the Global North until it comes to getting their slice THEN its suddenly all part of the “plan” and totally strategic.
Yeah, there’s way too much uncritical celebration of Zorhan. Of course I don’t expect a demsoc to be Lenin, but he made that comment about Venezuela just three months before Maduro was kidnapped. Trump fixed his sights back on Cuba not long after and we’ve seen how that’s going.
I guess everyone’s expected to move on from this, but it feels like abandoning my principles to just let it go. Tbh it’s frustrating to see how many people are fine with doing so.
he was asked a gotcha question by a gusano talk show host during the campaign and he gave a shitty response because he was caught off guard being accused of wanting to be a scary communist authoritarian dictator
that gusano talk show host knowing I could buy but this is just deranged
Caught off guard or gave a pre-meditated answer? I don’t believe he didn’t spare a thought about the matter, given the not insignificant hispanophone minority of NYC.
not american and don’t live in america. i’m brown and in bangladesh lol. ive had my taste of the US going to college there and its bad enough that i appreciate measures being taken to lessen the suffering of the broke ass everyday individuals like me when i was there.
it’s always fuck israel, it’s always death to america. voting for someone is a pragmatic choice, it does not mean you fully endorse the guy’s ideology nor does it exclude you from actually organizing.

Mamdani definitely knew of that CIA operation and was signaling his cooperation.
Eh, I just think he made a political calculation that throwing the right countries under the bus would benefit him. Demsoc shit.
Given that Maduro is literally imprisoned in NYC, no.

agreed with that sentiment fully.
