ask a local LLM (“dumber” the better) to explain your jokes, as a way of gauging whether they’ll land

I’m not doing this often but sometimes it’s validating when I’m like is this too deep a cut? Idk this thing that fits on a flash drive knows what I’m talking about. Wait that was in the dataset and survived quantization? Huh.

They suck at writing them though so I can’t even have them rephrase my jokes for me. Which sucks because I don’t know how to do anything other than lean into being awkward.

They are great at doing corpo speak for you tho. Or it was before people caught on. I sometimes use it as White Voice from Sorry To Bother You because I just can’t do it myself. I don’t feel bad about using a machine to perform the role of a machine. I’d feel worse about expending the effort as a human to use business language.
