Not sure why you are making dick jokes, becasue that sounds like you are trying to shame someone for being gay or something. You should realize that there is nothing wrong with being gay, and that using a gay joke to insult someone isn’t cool.

Your inner bigot is showing. I’m not Vance fan, but you trying to shame him by implying he’s into gay stuff isn’t awesome at all.

So that makes it ok? Because it’s common to use being gay as an insult? Think about that for a sec.

Eat a dick vance! Another one that is you sick fuck.

So why did ya put in “Another one that is” if you were just using a figure of speech?

Yeah, I’m trying to purge similar language from my own vocabulary. Growing up, that was just the language we used. Thinking about now, it really doesn’t make a lot of sense. I mean, the world would be a better place if a few more people sucked a few more dicks. The last thing I want to do is portray dick-eatery as some sort of degrading act.

“Suck start a shotgun” is my usual replacement. But, while sufficiently vulgar, the implied violence doesn’t seem to match the intent here.

“Fellate a futon” is quite apropos, but doesn’t have quite the same punch.

“Suck the shit out of Donny’s Diaper” is the best I can come up with. I suppose that could theoretically be considered offensive to incontinent-Americans. However, I’ve shat myself on rare occasions, and I don’t think a reasonable person would consider the command to be derogatory of me and my fellow pants-shitters. Certainly not as disrespectful of the shitter as it is to the Corporal Couchfucker. The thought of him eagerly slurping up Don’s dirty skivvies adequately portrays the depth of my disgust for Vance.

Where does it end? Allowing anyone with a claim to offense at any derogatory language that is not directed at them? There will be nothing left to use.

More prescient, the Public will reject us if we do as such, and the fascists will take advantage and take our ground. They already have, it’s partly why we LOST.

No one agrees with this bullshit, this is what animates people to vote republican.

Are you saying that the sucking of dicks is a degrading act? Are you saying you want fewer dicks sucked? Because that’s gonna be a non-starter for me. The best people I know suck dicks, and I really don’t appreciate you associating them with that useless fuck.

Nothing left to use? Seriously? We’re inventing new words by the minute.

If this issue is what’s going to drive you to Republicanism, I’d say you’re already there.

I suspect that people who throw around gay jokes as hard as you are doing right now, just may think that being gay IS an insult, but ya’ll know that on Lemmy it wouldn’t be taken well.

It’s the same level as the R-word. People don’t take that well these days, and with good reason.

Or ya know, you can just try not to insult people, even if you don’t like them. You can just say you don’t like them because you don’t agree what they stand for. That way you are clear, and the only one who can reasonably be offended is the person you are making the remark about. It’s not high school anymore.

Society grows and words and phrases change meaning over time. What was a funny insult when you were in high school, isn’t funny anymore. I sincerely hope that you can be wiser with your words and intent in the future. You’re not making a good case for yourself with these replies.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. Here on Lemmy, people talk about inclusion, yet they still throw around gay slurs as an insult. Being gay isn’t an insult. At all. For anyone.

Thank you for saying it much better than I did!

He can easily overcome all of these attacks with a stroke of his pen come January. All he has to do is invoke Section 4 of the 25th Amendment on January 20th, and he’ll easily become the longest serving president since FDR.

        Here’s a clear breakdown:

        🔹 What it allows

It lets the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet declare that the president is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”

        🔹 What happens next

The vice president immediately becomes Acting President.

        🔹 If the president disagrees

The president can send a written declaration saying they are fit.

They get their powers back unless the vice president and Cabinet challenge it again within 4 days.

        🔹 If there’s a dispute

        Congress must decide the issue.

They have 21 days to vote.

A 2/3 majority in both the House and Senate is required to keep the vice president as Acting President.

        🔹 Key idea

Section 4 is essentially a constitutional backup plan for situations where a president is incapacitated (physically or mentally) but refuses to step down.

🔹 Has it ever been used?

No—Section 4 has never been fully invoked. Other parts of the 25th Amendment (like temporary transfers of power) have been used, but this involuntary removal mechanism has not.

If you want, I can walk through real-world scenarios where people have discussed using Section 4 (for example during recent presidencies) and what made it controversial.

        I did not use chatgpt.

Section 4 of the 25th Amendment describes how the VP and cabinet can remove Trump for incapacity. That section requires a 2/3 majority of Congress to confirm his incapacity. Vance will very likely be able to execute such a coup after the midterms. All these congress people who are attacking him now will be put in the position of supporting his coup come January, when the incoming Congress is seated.

Now Trump’s out, Vance is a hero.

Section 1 of the 22nd Amendment establishes presidential term limits. It allows a VP who has been elevated to President to complete up to two years of their current term and remain eligible to be elected to two full terms themselves. So, after January 20th, Vance could finish out the last two years of Trump’s term. He gets to run as the incumbent rather than the former VP, and he remains eligible for the following election as well. Ten years in the White House instead of the usual four to eight.
