Side note I thought it was funny that in some throwaway lines in the original stories Arthur Conan Doyle made a point to show how woke and enlightened Holmes and Watson were about the barbaric practice of chattel slavery in America, but never questioned the barbaric practice of British colonialism in India or asking what Watson was doing in Afghanistan
I just think it’s incredible that Watson’s Afghanistan backstory was able to just be re-used without modification for the BBC series.
