Someone pointed out that IMU’s power is a lot like othelo. It’s got the same name “reversi”, and some of the giants also flipped because they were in between dory and brogy.
Also, idk how much this is just from the translation, but Imu says that “the demon is the very form existence was fated to assume”.
I think that’s gonna be core to the ideological conflict between the ancient kingdom and Imu. Like Imu probably wants to turn everybody into a demon, which would make them immortal, but also Imu’s slaves. Maybe. Idk.
Oh that’s an awesome detail! So Luffy can theoretically turn everyone back since he’s playing white. I wonder if Imu’s powers will be game related?
If Imu can turn anybody into a demon, maybe that means all the Celestial Dragons are contracted too and Imu only cares about them because of classism.

well, we’re definitely closer to the end of the series than i thought. the first fighting of imu and it’s already a doozy. i normally have a take or two but honestly, i’m just blown away by where things have gone on elbaph. i thought we’d already cranked up the threat meter but we hadn’t even gotten close apparently.
Based on how nuts the fight is looking right now it wouldn’t surprise me if this is the start of the final battle and it’ll be the backdrop for the entire final arc

Based on the appearance of the demon giants, does that mean Magellan a demon too?
Magellan likely isn’t, but Impel Down seems more like it was personally architected by Imu given the devi/hell-themed floors.
It’s just odd to me that he has the bat wings which we haven’t seen on other horned characters outside of Impel Down until now. But I guess the Elders and God’s Knights don’t have them
Imus power is scary! I feel sorry for the giants. Imagine if one of the straw hats gets turned.
I hope Nika’s power can turn them back, Dorry and Broggy don’t deserve to be melted
