Every person that I’ve known to go to burning man is “socially liberal/fiscally conservative”. They aren’t maga, but they definitely vote that way.

The really old-timers who went back when it was new that I used to meet ~10 years ago weren’t, they were legit stinky poor hippie lefties

But yeah like 99.8% of the visitors are tech dicks because you have to be rich or a hippie to take a week off in the middle of nowhere these days

Yeah it sucks because the idea of such a festival is cool as hell. I’d love to spend a week in the wilderness with other left wing freaks. But yeah I can’t afford that shit

Meanwhile, I’ve met plenty of hardcore socialists that go. Perhaps this says more to the people you (or to be fair (and balanced™), I) interact with.

It’s true, I made a reply to another person in this thread that I used to work for a tech giant. I’ve since moved to a rural and impoverished area, so my idea of who goes to Burning Man was definitely colored by who I’ve known that could have afforded it

The wall street effigy that burned in 2012 was badass. Need more statements like that as its gotten too tame, instagramy, and police statey
