It’s called ‘fuck it we don’t care move onto the next project’ button.
Also, I used to be excited for games to go on sale so I can justify buying an expensive overpriced game. Now I see those sales are like 90% off…and I still won’t buy them because I know at even 5$, it’s not worth it to deal with companies launchers and forced ads and whatever they think is good. It never is. Blacklisted all aaaaaaaaaaaaa companies because I’m such of going aaaaaaaaa after buying stuff
“Softer”? Management/executive speak for “we released a crap product”.
I was really excited about this game when I first heard about it, right up until I learned it was Ubisoft. Their involvement makes me pretty dubious, so I’ll wait and see how hard they crank the monetization handle, and also what the reviews look like.
Why wait when you can look at reviews and Ubisoft’s fuck-ups right now? The game was released on consoles and Epic at the end of August, it’s just the Steam release that’s in November
Because I’m not really that invested. The Steam launch will have the effect of making me check it out, so I guess that will at least work as intended.
Adding to this; Steam provides a hub where players purchase, play and review games. Meaning that I find the reviews to be more genuine.
E.g. every time I hear about a game that reviews decently well getting “review bombed” on Steam it’s because the company, usually the publisher, is fucking over the players in some way. Something that is well reported by players who can leave a product review on the same platform they purchased and played on.
So I wait for Steam release for reviews (on top of it being my preferred platform).
THEY SLAMMED IT
This is why you should release everywhere immediately. If your game is shit, no one will buy it on your second release to Steam/PC/whatever you withheld from. Companies love shooting themselves in the foot.
