    After a century some of the victims are finally going to be known.

    For those that aren’t familiar with the event it is when one group of people figured another group was too uppity and decided to unalive them. In America. By Americans. On Americans. 35 square blocks were destroyed. This was the cost of pulling yourself up by your boot straps.

    gen Xer here. i was never taught about this in school. but i distinctly remember our “history” teacher (whose priority was her other role: cheerleading coach) in high school adamantly insisting the civil war was NOT about slavery

    this is why education is important, and why republicans are deliberately wrecking it
