Hi Lemmy.

I would like to get hands on some SIM for my laptop. I reside in Germany so roaming would be required.

Anyhow, I do not want to pay some amount x every months or four weeks. Instead I would like to have some old school SIM where I can use my data until its gone. 4G speed and 5 GB would be plenty.

Anyone knows of such a SIM from within your country?

Cheers.

If your laptop supports esim you can checkout https://esimdb.com/ which as a pretty comprehensive list. Most of these are prepaid for X months and you get Y GB of data. So could fit what you need.

There is a plan matching my needs from BNESIM!

No expiry and e.g. 5 GB would be plenty.

The perfect answer, Sir or Madam. Appreciated very much!!

I mean you could buy an AldiTalk SIM and book a package, like Daten-Paket M, 5GB for €9,99/4 weeks. Or you could use it in the basic price scheme without any package where it costs 24ct/MB, so you could charge your SIM with €1228,80 monthly and use the Internet until it is empty again.

this is hideously expensive, in poland there’s a package that gets you unlimited data in a month (mosly at lte speeds) after you spend more than 30zł in given month (a bit over 7€/mo)

The Kombi packages are actually cheaper. The AldiTalk Kombi-Paket S gives you 10GiB with 5G for 8,99€.

5G has lower latency and higher cell capacity for the same cell tower. Speed isn’t the only advancement. It’s better at maintaining connections while on the move (i.e. in a train) and security and privacy has been improved in a few key areas.

There’s a world of difference between an EDGE 120kbps connection and a 5G 120kbps connection.

The point of my comment was that the AldiTalk Kombi Paket S for 8,99€ offers double the amount of data compared to the Daten Paket M mentioned by the previous commenter with the same speeds for a Euro less

Dont know if they have this in Germany but i think they are all over europe. I have one as a backup XIPO connect 64euros for 10gb for a year of use after that you can refill or not or sooner. I use this as a backup when internet goes down at home.
