Had a real waking up moment last week leaving one of my favorite venues seeing the band Chat Pile in a crowd of crusty, unwashed, punks, only to look at the parking lot after the show and see it filled with current model year Teslas, Mercedes, etc.

To be fair, there are also cases especially for older bands where their fanbase who were teens and young adults during their prime are now 40-50 year olds with families and are better off financially than they were back then.

They can’t. Gen X was the last generation that got wealthier with age and it’s gotten progressively worse for every subsequent generation.

Yeah, because there’s absolutely no barriers to most people getting those jobs. People just don’t want more money 🙄

Well, one has to learn those things. But why are we shitting on people that do now?

I’m not. I’m pointing out that you’re presenting it as something anyone can just do, which is far from the case.

Apart from many people simply lacking aptitude in the jobs you’re talking about (not everyone can learn any trade), dozens of millions of people are working the equivalent of more than a full time job to (most often with limited success) make ends meet. They don’t have time or energy left over from their CURRENT job(s) to retrain and/or apply for other jobs. It’s not like they can just take enough time off without being fired.

And then there’s the fact that a large portion of struggling people live in areas where those kinds of jobs at that kind of pay either don’t exist at all or there’s hundreds if not thousands that want the job per opening.

And no, those people can’t just move. Moving costs a lot of money, time, and energy that the average working poor simply don’t have.

Well I agree with the difficulty here. But I think as a society we should both try to make it easier to make this transition and help individuals feel like they CAN make the transition. Otherwise it’s sort of nonstop toil ain’t it?

                depends on the circumstances.

lots of people have barriers. lots of other people are simply lazy and refuse to help themselves.

and lots of folks just want someone to give them lots and lots money for merely existing so they can be a leech on others and society.

being a leech has nothing to do with whether you make five figures per year or 12. lots of young and old, rich and poor, would be happy to suck on somebody elses teet and do nothing with their lives if they had the option.

I mean give the price of tickets. I have went to like 3 concerts (paid for rock ones) in my lifetime and never to a festival that had admission.

Love Chat Pile! Actually saw them on Saturday night in Chattanooga, on their new tour with Portrayal of Guilt. They always put on a fantastic show.

They’re phenomenal live, I’ve seen them twice in Asheville now and considered driving down to the Chattanooga show haha. Did he do the movie trivia bit with your crowd?
