    Because during Vietnam people got the news from the media. The middleman is cut, we know immediately if this is just talk or real action.

        Seriously, we don’t have an anti-vietnam war culture if it weren’t for the reporting being done in those days. Everyone should wish we had that kind of Journalism.

        That isn’t what I said. If you cut the middleman, you are informed nearly immediately. You can tell whether your government’s actions align with their words immediately. In many instances we learned of the lies before they were even told. That’s why you currently have a nation of cynics.

          The media during Vietnam are those that cast doubt on the government line. Didn’t have anything to do with middlemen.
