Purple earth hypothesis suggests that early photosynthesis wasn’t chlorophil based, but on a simpler molecule (retinal) which is purple colored. The Canfield ocean was supposed to have followed this time yielding a turquoise life, where the ocean was anoxic and sulfidic. That was then replaced during the great oxigenation event which lead to the current green earth.

If you look at stuff like the purple earth hypothises, the Canfield ocean, I’d definitely go with life finds a way.

Good question, and I was too lazy to search for a source. basically, statistical research has shown that zip codes of where you were born significantly correlate to income in the Netherlands, even in the same city. It depends partly on geography, but also on general wealth in the street you grow up in. In the Netherlands, getting ahead requires a mix of talent, luck, being born in the right zip code and work. I can only guess how this works out in a highly competative economy like the US.

Am Dutch, I would offer to pay for gas while in the car. I would also not ask money for a coffee, even more when it was offered because I would have been late. Which wouldn’t have happened.

It depends on where you live, here in the Netherlands these days some plastic flexible tubing is used, but about 15-20 years ago this wasn’t allowed and it was copper tubing everywhere. A little longer ago it was also soldered tubing only, they changed that because a lot of gas lines run below floors in older houses and soldering with a burner is dangerous there. Anyway, if you have a house which was built before 2000, you probably have copper gas lines over here.

Not really, solid copper would need a higher temperature. It could be copper dust if there was some work done on the piping recently. It could also be that this is burning on bottled propane, which can contain some sulfur compounds that react with the copper, making the flames green. Or it could be cleaning agents if it’s recently cleaned. (according to some googling around) I also found this youtube video, but it’s kind of shitty, especially that it’s saying it’s due to acidic cleaner, and rinsing with vinegar should help.
