That is all true. I’d still prefer it to an unarmored donkey

1·1 year agoDoesn’t it say:
Although the fabricated passport likely would not withstand scrutiny due to the absence of an embedded chip, it proved sufficient to bypass the most basic KYC procedures employed by some fintech services.
From what i gather about these “Know Your Customer” systems, they take the photo of your ID, check if it is realistic enough and then check the picture on your ID (bad as it is) against your authentic photo made through the app. Verification against 3rd party API confirming existence of such ID while welcome / preferred seems to be optional (doesn’t work for all IDs - there may be technical/ legal barriers).
So the vulnerability has probably always been there, still is (?!?), for a sweet moment in time it was just more easy to exploit?

The Onion@midwest.social•Russia gifts meat grinders to mothers of soldiers killed in Ukraine for Women’s DayEnglish
2·1 year ago🤓 Same thing popped up here in CZ, via Meduza and it is referring to 3 photos here on VK published March 5th. From what i gather from the Czech version the local branch of “United Russia” party responsible for these gifts retroactively claimed there was a range of products but the women on the pictures specifically asked for grinders. Suspiciously though - only 3 pictures, 3 different women, only grinders. The grinder is DEXP MG-2000s and could cost around 60 USD.
This is no joke. I am quite confident somewhere there in Polyarnye Zori (Полярные Зори) is one really offended local party official who was bloody happy about the price he got on these grinders here and really doesn’t understand what is everybody’s problem 😂 …

1·2 years agoAnd yet your post implied some sort of equivalency.
Equivalency - I have to confess English isn’t my first language and I am not sure I understand what you mean specifically/ in what context. Would you please care to explain?
As for the blanket ban - while it wasn’t my comment, I don’t find it unreasonable - how would you describe a rule advertised as punishing extremist Zionism that also punishes both post Zionists and anti Zionists all the same?

1·2 years agoNobody is saying we’re going to block the Palestinians from traveling anywhere. Only the perpetrators, not the victims.
Well that is pitty, because they’ve just blocked 2 millions of Palestinians living in Israel proper - Demographics of Israel, wikipedia

1·2 years agoBanning someone from your resort island is the same sort of punishment of civilians as killing them?
No, but punishing population for the actions of their government is always bad, always unacceptable, and specially when the country isn’t even democratic like Israel never was. For one thing - this ban does not only affect Israelis, but also 2 millions of Palestinians who live in Israel proper. Wikipedia - Demographics of Israel

0·2 years agoThere were economic sanctions, there was a huge wave of divestment, but all that was pointed at the institutions of the state - not at its citizens ( like this unfortunate decision of Maledives).
Edit: how much sense would it make blocking black citizens of SA from visiting your country -simply because they live under apartheid?

1·2 years agoIMO the equivalency is in how you’ve chosen those individuals that don’t deserve to live / that are no longer allowed to enter…

1·2 years agoThank you! I don’t think I’ve been this proud for getting down voted lately. And I don’t blame you - I hope your motivation is same as mine - to end the tragedy that is currently happening in Gaza ASAP. IMO - You just aren’t terribly adult about it, but I trust that you will get there <3

World News@lemmy.world•Maldives will ban Israelis from entering the country over the war in GazaEnglish
1·2 years agoThat is exactly the point - I don’t think one can use terms like “majority” and “assume” to justify collective punishment, because that is exactly what the Israelis are doing right now.(But I am obviously wrong )

3·2 years agoThis is ubelievably dumb. Israel is not even a democracy. Yes, they may have some democratic laws, but they are also 70+ years under the state of emergency. There isn’t free press. Israelis are getting locked up for protesting for peace, for refusing to fight in a apartheid war, even for liking facebook comments supporting Palestine. Aplying collective punishment / collective responsibility under such circumstances (as generally under any circumstances) not only doesn’t support the plight of palestinian refugees, it goes against it!
I understand their (Maledives) motivation, but this is not the way. You can’t punish all Palestinians for the crimes of the few, nor can you punish all Israelies for the crimes of the many.
Go ahead and downvote me.

T480 (not sure about T580) is a strange beast regarding storage implemantation. I’ve seen SATA models (worse, slower) and NVMe models (better, rarer?, faster). I own the SATA one and I believe that good part of the performance difference I see between it and a T14 Gen 2 (running same setup and same tasks ) is on account of the faster storage. Among T14 devices NVMe is I believe standard.

They are operating exclusively Boeing 737 variants ( afaik 600+ planes) to save money by symplifying maintenance and pilot training. Adding another new completely different plane into the mix (one noone outside china knows how to maintain or fly) would add lots of costly complexity and overhead they can do without. They would have to fully switch only to single COMAC plane variant for all future purchases to make it make sense and imo they are nowhere near beaing ready fot that kind of commitment.
