16·2 years agoRussia has a jail that you go to if you’re suspected of a crime to keep you from running away. It’s insane. I read news every day of people during in those facilities. There are so many people being detained right now for everything from helping people escape to simply commenting on posts against the government.

Edit: no it doesn’t. I though it said Helldivers 2

1·2 years agoI’ve worked in tech support for a long time and personally I also struggle with using Apple devices because of how ass backwards everything is on an Apple device as compared to everything else.
But in my experience the people who don’t understand what file is are more comfortable on Apple devices. It’s by design.

Technology@lemmy.world•is this copium or hopium or schizophrenia?English
14·2 years agoI think he believes what he’s saying. From his perspective AGI will be great, and a lot of people think that AI and quantum computing will have a feedback loop where AI will help us create a better quantum computer which will make a better AI and so on…
Down here in the filth though, we’re going to go through mass unemployment, rapid shifts in markets, loss of privacy due to increasingly sophisticated AI powered surveillance, and complete loss of our freedom of speech.
So, all that stuff probably will happen to people like him. Just not us.

politics @lemmy.world•‘Isn’t it past your jail time?’: Jimmy Kimmel wins cheers at Oscars with Trump jibe
18·2 years agoIn 2016 I was so certain that Trump would lose to Hillary, that when he won I was in complete disbelief. Over the last 8 years I’ve spent a lot of time working with a lot of blue-collar people and have spent a lot of time talking to them about their beliefs. And while I don’t share those beliefs, I understand how they got there.
And as unbelievable as it may be to some of us, there are a large portion of population that thinks of Biden just as lowly as we may think of Trump. And they have their reasons. They have their own echo chamber that makes them believe that there’s not a single chance that Biden will wil, just like how we have our own echo chamber telling us the opposite.
And from what I can see, the right is a lot more enthusiastic about their candidate then the left is about theirs. That’s the only reason I think Trump will end up winning.
