Tana French novels often live up to the hype, at least for me.
Did you ever get the money they owed you? I had a much less exciting version of that where a job I had was taking money out of paychecks for insurance that was never actually provided. Many years later the courts sorted things out and a few thousand showed up in the mail.
“Futility is freedom”
I was at breakfast today overhearing the table behind me talking about how great Vance was, how his wife is a “pure blooded Indian”, and he has so many kids and is perfect to take over from Trump. I think they overheard my partner and I talking too, I had mentioned what Trump said about fixing it so we don’t have to vote after the election and then noticed them not talking for awhile after being very loud. Then they started talking about how people who play video games are drug addicts who should be sent to rehab camps with the homeless after Trump gets elected. They overheard my partner and I talking about gaming together. So ya, fucking stay frosty people because its getting scary out there. This might really be the last election we get.
I mostly shop at Costco and am not struggling so maybe my perspective is skewed but it seems like food prices have been coming down recently, and I haven’t noticed any shortages. If you think it feels like things are being covered up that sounds a little paranoid and conspiratorial to me, food distribution in the US is a huge and complicated system involving a whole lot of people, it seems completely implausible that a cover up of a major food crisis would even be possible. There’s just too many people who would notice (and there isn’t any kind of centralized hierarchy involved that could pull something like that off). I don’t see the relevance of shale oil production, the US produces plenty of oil to be both self sufficient and one of the largest oil exporters in the world. If you’re concerned the US doesn’t have enough oil or something like that you really shouldn’t be.
Would have been cooler if they were to scale.
It’s been awhile since I set it up so I don’t fully remember, I think they need their own bitwarden account. Here’s the documentation on the feature: https://bitwarden.com/help/emergency-access/
Bitwarden shared vault. There’s also a feature where you can designate someone to gain access to your vault via a dead man’s switch.
Paris. I’ve always heard how rude and unfriendly Parisians are towards English speakers but that was not my experience.
It’s full Android with the Play store but wifi only, no cell modem. You can install whatever you want just like on a phone, you just can’t do calls or SMS. I haven’t tried Google Maps on it but I’m sure it works, although you might need to adjust things to make it look better. I’ve used it to send audio to Bluetooth devices but haven’t tried the built in speaker, I wouldn’t expect it to sound good.
Boox Palma, a phone sized e-reader that runs Android. I read a lot more books and I think the e-ink display makes it easier to fall asleep.
Check out Planet Labs, BlackSky, Maxar, and Spire Global. They all operate private fleets of satellites, if you have the budget they will sell you the data.
They spun out their satellite operations as an independent company named Planet Labs awhile back, it went public a few years ago.
It’s easier if you cut back first so your body gets used to having less of it. I started by only having any before 12pm, then 10am, then I cut out energy drinks entirely, then I’d do part decaf coffee until I finally went full decaf. I definitely noticed some headaches and felt kind of shit occasionally but I don’t remember it being too terrible.
Listening to a slightly boring audiobook has been the most consistently effective method I’ve found. Also, I had to give up caffeine.
It’s possible to be both a useful and trash drug. Benzos are inherently dangerous in ways that lots of other drugs are not, it is very easy to fuck up your life with them.
Kind of. Clinton administration participated in negotiations and signed the Rome Statute but was very explicitly critical of it and never sent the treaty to the Senate for actual approval. Official US government position and the position of both parties has been to generally shit on the court ever sense.

NYT has multiple pictures. It’s a formerly forgotten Revolutionary War era flag that’s been adopted by extremists trying to overthrow the US government and establish a Christian theocracy.
The US is not a member of the ICC and has been opposed to its existence from the start. While it’s true the ICC tends to be popular with a large percentage of Democrats, there’s always been bipartisan support for shitting on it.
Poirot. It’s charming, full of mostly subtle humor, and generally just well written, acted, and produced. I appreciate that it has a deeply humane perspective where justice matters, and that effort has been put into historical accuracy. It’s also sufficiently detached from contemporary reality that its not a downer to watch even though it still has a very honest view of human nature.
