Craving constant stimulation yet too anxious to enjoy anything actually stimulating so we resort to idle games because that’s all the responsibility we can comfortably enjoy.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with us, I think everyone is just super burnt out.

Either you straight up did not understand the comment you responded to or you’re trying to move the goalposts.
Either way, poor form

Man I feel old, I remember those being disturbingly popular when I was growing up
They just despawn and it’s 1/10^(78) xp per clown.
A fraction of 1 EP for each atom in the universe.

That’s why they get so squirrelly when you ask about work experience, they either don’t have any or they blew it super hard and had to return to the academia bubble.

I remember in college one professor ranting and raving about how students worry about grades too much and that we should all focus on actually retaining the material.
It’s like yeah that’s a pretty thought but 70% of the class was there on scholarship so if we don’t make the grade we don’t finish and have a mountain of debt.
On a separate occasion the dean of engineering wasted 2 full lectures of ethics class ranting about how we should give to the alumni association and how “it’s a privilege to be here so we need to pay it back.”
There were over 100 people in that room who were in at least $60k of debt to the school and we still had another semester left before graduation.
These people have brains the size of planets but couldn’t comprehend in the slightest how reality gets in the way of their pretty little egalitarian ideals.

turdcollector69@lemmy.worldto Humor@lemmy.world•I used to be an adventurer like you... English01·14 days agoBro it’s called having an opinion. Go touch some fucking grass if you can’t handle someone online having an opinion based on their experiences.
turdcollector69@lemmy.worldto Humor@lemmy.world•I used to be an adventurer like you... English01·14 days agoNo I read it, it’s a pointless uhm ackshully
turdcollector69@lemmy.worldto Humor@lemmy.world•I used to be an adventurer like you... English01·14 days agoYes thank you for reiterating for me that I’m talking about American schools. Because as I stated I am talking about American schools.
In case anyone didn’t know I’m talking about American schools, as in not non-american schools.
turdcollector69@lemmy.worldto Humor@lemmy.world•I used to be an adventurer like you... English01·14 days agoThat wasn’t an insult was being factual.
You couldn’t tell that I was talking about the groups that are separated out when I explicitly say “they are separated out.”
Bro, that is cooked ass reading comprehension.

turdcollector69@lemmy.worldto Humor@lemmy.world•I used to be an adventurer like you... English1·14 days agoIf you want to ever move up in your career that’ll have to change because engineering advancement inherently means becoming management.
The unfortunate reality is that we live in a collaborative world and if you can’t collaborate then you will not go far.
It doesn’t matter if you’re the smartest person in the world if you’re also the most easily ignored.
One person can only do so much especially when they’re competing with people who aren’t alone.
Yeah purity testing has burned so many bridges unnecessarily.
It’s one thing to hold yourself to a standard, it’s another to repeatedly alienate yourself because nobody is pure enough to measure up.
The American left has been ineffectual because it’s as interested in fighting itself as it is fighting conservatives.
Undecided/uninformed voters see the difference between the parties as: endless pissing contest vs proud ignorance. At least the ignorant are having fun and getting shit done.
Until the culture stops prioritizing smuggies over who’s the best leftist and starts prioritizing meaningful action we’re just going to keep losing.
We need to start treating politics as a popularity contest and not like a reddit comments pissing contest.
