I left Reddit much too late. I guess some habits can be hard to break. Then I spent some time on kbin/mbin/fedia, and I’ll be staying here.
Btw I’m a non-binary trans person [they/she/he].
U.S. Aid to Israel in Four Charts || Council on Foreign Relations || 31 Mai 2024
Israel has been the largest cumulative recipient of U.S. foreign aid since its founding, receiving about $310 billion (adjusted for inflation) in total economic and military assistance.
I would argue that Zionists started killing children in 1947.

Israel’s siege now blocks 83% of food aid reaching Gaza, new data reveals
New data has revealed the scale of aid obstruction, and the consequential drastic fall in aid entering Gaza. This is driving a humanitarian disaster, with the entire population of Gaza facing hunger and disease, and almost half a million at risk of starvation.
Data analysis by organisations working in Gaza has found that as a consequence of the Israeli government’s obstruction of aid:
- 83% of required food aid does not make it into Gaza, up from 34% in 2023.This reduction means people in Gaza have gone from having an average of two meals a day to just one meal every other day. An estimated 50,000 children aged between 6-59 months urgently require treatment for malnutrition by the end of the year.
- 65% of the insulin required and half of the required blood supply are not available in Gaza.
- Availability of hygiene items has dropped to 15% of the amount available in September 2023. One million women are now going without the hygiene supplies they need.
- Only around 1,500 hospital beds in Gaza remain operational, compared to around 3,500 beds in 2023 which was already well below sufficient to meet the needs of a population of more than 2 million people. By comparison, cities of similar size, such as Chicago and Paris average 5 to 8 times more beds than in Gaza.
- 1.87 million people are in need of shelter with at least 60% of homes destroyed or damaged (January 2024). Yet tents for around just 25,000 people have entered Gaza since May 2024.
The IDF targets hospitals because they WANT to target hospitals.
They even gave a name to it:
Explainer: The Dahiya Doctrine & Israel’s Use of Disproportionate Force
The Dahiya Doctrine is an Israeli military doctrine that calls for the use of massive, disproportionate force and the deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure.
How do you treat PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder- when there is no “post”. When you’re in a place like Palestine, where the trauma is ongoing and inter-generational.
Hi @Tiresia, I have to admitt what I get from your response is a lot of anger over something basically quite simple:
Please don’t make this a personal attack.
It doesn’t seem to me like a matter of rules or whatever, and it looks like a good suggestion as well. Don’t you think?
They also know what collaborating with the Nazis is like.
I haven’t heard about this before, so I can’t argue about it at this point.
Then you say:
So I don’t think Armenia’s decision will have much of an effect.
How you managed to draw this conclusion from your previous statement, is a mystery to me.
And since you mentioned Nazi collaborations, I’ll say the following. I noticed that the sources you provided the one is Zionist and the other Polish, and both collaborated with Nazis for sure.
How Zionists collaborated with the Nazis, in conversation with Tony Greenstein | EI Podcast
we speak with activist and blogger Tony Greenstein, a veteran of the Palestine solidarity movement in the UK, about his new book “Zionism During the Holocaust: The Weaponization of Memory in the Service of State and Nation.”
Armenians know what genocide means.
So it looks that the State of Palestine is recognized as a sovereign state by 147 of the 193 member states of the United Nations. Hope I’m counting correctly and didn’t leave out a country, cause it looks like the relevant wiki page [International recognition of the State of Palestine] has not yet been updated. Not even for Ireland’s recognition of Palestine and that happened last month. Soon I hope.
For me the question remains. What could make the remaining white colonialists and Zionist settler colonialists change their minds and finally recognize Palestine, so that a 2-state solution is implemented.
Why, exactly, do you think that the country Cyprus is responsible for RAF Akrotiri?
Decolonization processes are difficult. For Cyprus this process started in 1959, if I remember correctly. Within these processes having governments that are in favor of western imperialism does not help towards the ousting western military bases. I’m not saying no genuine effort too place during all these decades. Also, many people have been out on the streets for this, but among Cypriots in reality there is no consensus on the matter since many want to keep all ties with the UK.
[Edit: I have not mentioned how much UK does not want to leave those military bases since it was not part of the question]
It is not leased from the Cypriot government.
Who said anything about a lease?
Oops I forgot this one
why Hezbollah would view Cyprus as a target
Actually, according to Reuters “Nasrallah also threatened Cyprus - the EU member state in closest proximity to Lebanon, with which it has cordial relations - accusing it of allowing Israel to use its airports and bases for military exercises.”
In the threat local airports were mentioned, not only military bases
If you take a look at the wiki page of RAF Akrotiri they talk about several incidents in support of Israel, starting in the 1970’s. For incidents that specifically involved Lebanon, the answer would be in the sections: 2000s–2010s and Controversies.
It could also be hint for other military bases in area, willing to have similar approach
I have to admit I thought RAF Akrotiri was an American base within the British one. By checking it out, you were correct to mention the term “used”. And I was wrong.
Also, I think what you mentioned earlier is the key element:
American units are based there
Sure, that’s the name. Still, this doesn’t explain why RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus is on the List of American military installations in wiki
There are no US military bases in Cyprus.
They have, at least according to the
List of American military installations - wiki
Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia (Cyprus)
- RAF Akrotiri
I suppose the above could also be a reply for Billy@lemmy.dbzer0.com.
And there’s been no hints for participating any further
They have US military bases there and that’s why Lebanon made that threat, and more specifically Nasrallah said:
“The Cypriot government must be warned that opening Cypriot airports and bases for the Israeli enemy to target Lebanon means that the Cypriot government has become part of the war and the resistance (Hezbollah) will deal with it as part of the war” [source]
Also you said:
Imagine yelling at someone who’s only ever done positive things for your people.
I’m sorry but this example is irrelevant. The threat does not come from Palestine, it comes from Lebanon.
I think if they do a full-blown invasion, they’ll find out that Hezbollah (and quite possibly the regular Lebanese military) is a much bigger, experienced, and sophisticated (…)
Oh they know well. Israel has invaded Lebanon twice (at least?) and both times they failed in a humiliating way.
Cyprus was caught off guard by comments from Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Wednesday that the island could be a target if it permitted Israel to use its military facilities in the event of an attack on Lebanon.
So Cyprus was caught off guard because they were told “if we get attacked from your soil, you could be a target”. This doesn’t sound very complicated, why are they perplexed?
