Are we talking about banning them from posting/commenting on dbzer0 or banning them so no one on dbzer0 can see their posts/comments on any instances? If it’s the former I’m for it, if it’s the latter I’m against it.

I don’t like seeing fuckers like that go unchallenged. If everyone willing to debunk their bullshit is on an instance that bans them and can’t see what they write they’ll always get the last word, influencing people on other instances.

The problem with GMOs isn’t the GMOs themselves, it’s why they’ve been GM’d. If they’ve been modified to be “roundup resistant” so they can dump a truckload of glyphosate on them, or something similar to that, that might be a problem.

If I’m buying fresh produce it’s not a problem, I can can make double sure to wash it properly. But if it’s processed food, I definitely do not trust food manufacturers to get all that shit off the vegetables.

Looking for GMO free canned fruit/vegetables, frozen fruit/vegetables, or anything with fruit/vegetables in it is, in my opinion, a good idea. But a fresh cucumber? Just wash it.

My mom, who is usually pretty level headed about this kind of thing, has completely memory holed this.

She very good at sewing and crafty stuff and used to make me the most badass Halloween costumes. For example: a full body Gizmo fur suit with a big head, ears, and huge eyes where I looked out the mouth. The kind of thing you’d see theme park employees wearing at a Disney park.

Every year, if there was snow on the ground I’d have to cover up these awesome costumes with a jacket, my dad’s jacket with the bulkier ones like Gizmo or E.T. (another full body one with a head). I’d worry about it the entire week before and if there was snow we’d have a huge fight about whether it was enough, “I can see the grass through it, it’s so light”, “it didn’t even stick to the pavement or sidewalks”.

But she swears she doesn’t remember any of this and it almost never snowed in October. Meanwhile now they wonder if they’re going to get their first snow that sticks before Christmas.

Ok, yeah, but it’s important that it’s a certain kind of dog.

I’m glad our fuck up in the US is inspiring others to step back from the edge. It’s at least a silver lining I can console myself with while everything crumbles around me.

I make a little more than double the cap. I’m in favor of increasing or eliminating the cap but that would double my check in the future. (Not quite, I haven’t made double the cap my entire working life, but it would increase it a lot.) That would still help a bit because not all of our withholdings go to basic social security. Some goes to disability, spousal benefits, etc. Increasing taxes and benefits proportionally, which is the way benefits are structured now, doesn’t solve anything.

I believe social security has a lot of value so I’m in favor of not just fixing the funding, but expanding it as well. But if you want to make it healthier just with payroll taxes they would have to be progressive, like income tax, without increasing benefits.
