News@lemmy.world•How the Trump administration and congressional Republicans may crack down on pro-Palestinian protestersEnglish
33·1 年前That statement is truly incredible! Biden helped give cover to Netanyahu (in addition to endless supplies of bombs) and drew one tiny red line for a few weeks (no bunker-busters in Rafah) and that faded quickly. He stopped funding UNWRA, even when other Western countries resumed it. Continuous support for Israel in the UN Security Council.
The West Bank example is grotesque. What effect did those sanctions have? None that I can see. The IDF has begun destroying infrastructure like they have done in Gaza, in addition to all of the killings.
So no, there is no reason to defend Biden/Harris. Is Trump worse? Yes, so what about it? Should we refrain from protesting because Democrats are in power right now?

61·1 年前Aren’t the elections over? Whatever “strategic” excuse for supporting Biden/Harris is gone now. It’s a bi-partisan policy of unconditional support for Israel.
It’s true Trump will be more extreme, but there is no longer any excuse for going easy on Biden/Harris, if there ever was.

World News@lemmy.ml•Time is running out for Kamala Harris to break with Biden on the Gaza catastropheEnglish
1·1 年前You should look at my post history a little harder. I have posted a lot on Palestine, and very few have centered on Harris. I consider the election choices very painful for anyone who wants to keep Trump out while not supporting an administration which is clearly collaborating in a genocide with Israel. Most likely I will hold my nose and vote for Harris, but I’m not sure yet. If I don’t, I would be voting for Jill Stein.

What are you referring to? The “uncommitted” vote in the Democratic prez primary? Pro-Trump voters maybe, but uncommitted voters didn’t back Trump, they were trying to move Biden/Harris to stop supporting the genocide, which was well underway back then.
