That just shifts the privacy problems from the automaker to the smartphone OS maker.
I use GrapheneOS which only within the last year got Android Auto support, and even then it requires giving Google shit a lot of deep access to stuff I really don’t want to give.
Carplay and Android Auto should not be the only options (like when the car native nav is requires for stuff like battery preconditioning)
Don’t let your (justified) dislike of Tesla dull your senses towards other automakers.

Nearly all modern cars are a privacy nightmare. That is not a valid reason to avoid Tesla in favor of a different modern car.
All the other points are spot on, though. Fuck Tesla and fuck the nazi shitbag that pretends to run it.
Beware superchargers, they are only 400 volt at the moment. Right now, any 800+ volt EV will charge worse on Tesla superchargers than on 800 volt CCS chargers.
That will probably improve but it’ll take years.
Out of Spec Studios. Mostly youtube videos. They have a solid and consistent range testing methodology if range is a concern. But also deep technical understanding of more nuanced things like fast charging curves, battery management system quirks, which regions have good charging infra or not, and so on.
Kyle Conner with Out of Spec is the guy to pay attention to for all things EV. An actual expert with real passion. That and the rest of the good people he works with there.
About a year old, but: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5bzd_JTB_w
I also recommend his much more recent guest appearance on that same podcast, just a week or two ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ng-aK_oAsSY
More like 5% if plug-in hybrids count as “gas car”. 95% satisfaction is still great though.
I’ve been daily driving EVs for over eight years. I wouldn’t go back either, as long as I can charge it at home anyways. And I pay my own mortgage, so hopefully that remains the case.
Hell I’ve even taken my EV to race tracks. Charging in between runs is a hassle, sure, but the serenity on the track from no engine or exhaust noise removes a lot of anxiety, and I get to enjoy the sounds of all the other fun ICE cars that much more
Great car! I had a 2017 model year i3. Absolutely loved it. But yeah, the 50kw max DC charging sucks, and that long of a drive could really suck if there aren’t compatible DC chargers along the route.
What model year is hers? And I’m guessing it doesn’t have the range extender?
Why do specifically need a pickup?
his stupid new hair only makes him look even more punchable, somehow
