I love stux, I have a Mastodon account on one of his instances, and I donate every now and then. he’s a good human being, and his cats are supreme.

that being said, I feel like sometimes he’s a bit ADHD with his side projects, so he creates one, and then just lets it fizzle out over time while he starts two new ones. goldfish.social was one of them, and it looks like the domain has expired and got bought out by someone else. perhaps it’s his way of learning new stuff, or preventing himself on getting burned out or something - whichever it is, I’m not judging, he’s never making promises that they’re long term commitments anyway. his Masto instances have been solid, on the other hand.

I’m yet to see the app offer an update to the maps data without the app update beforehand. I use it on two devices, and if I don’t update the app on one of them, it won’t display new map data available to download.

yes, that’s exactly why public transport other than the subway doesn’t show up by default and you have to go an extra mile in order to enable it.

there are other apps than can access F-droid and everyone will soon start replying saying why they think their choice is the only reasonable one and everything else is the worst thing ever, but the official one under that link should be enough to get you started.

good luck getting everyone you know to communicate with you with “software from GitHub or F-Droid or something”. I’m having a hard time making people try out Signal, which is freely available on the major app stores (and which, by the way, has declared that they’ll leave the EU market if one device scanning will be enforced on them).

just when their far right got one third in the EU Parliament election votes. that bodes well for their elections… :/

nope, they’ll vote on it again in the few weeks. if it passes, e2ee messengers will be required to scan images on device before sending them. you will be able to not agree to that, but then you won’t be able to send or receive media and links, only text.
