  • The first comment worked as bait, but that last question is way too obvious.

    Although just for fun:

Then Python is not a scripting language.

That is true. It is often used as one, but it was developed from the start as a general-purpose language.

Would you consider C to be more or less complicated than Perl?

You know about Python, Perl and C. You know the answer and you’re just trying to incense people.

Do you know what community you’re in? Do you want to start a war?

There is no clear definition because there is a lot of overlap, especially when you get into the details, but:

    • Scripting languages are often considered to be very high level and can commonly run without compilation. Making them great to automate tasks or create a simplified interaction/abstraction layer to a more complex program.

    • Programming languages usually have much lower level access, and by extension they tend to be more complicated. In exchange for that, you get much more control. Although the access varies from Assembly to languages a C programmer would consider “scripting”.

Although for every example, there is basically a counter example. Because programmers being who they are, see it as a challenge to do something with a language that others consider impossible or wrong.

For example, there are things like NodeOS, a “Lightweight operating system using Node.js as userspace.”

THCs have actually been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency in-competition for a while, CBD has been allowed since 2018(partially since it’s a legally approved medication for certain seizures in parts of the world)

Although last I heard getting absolutely pure CBD with zero THC was pretty difficult, but it’s been a while since I checked so I hope things have improved.

  • Air currents and long straight road surfaces heating up simultaneously as the sun moves.

Long straight roads in grids can cause the air to “stick” to the ground as wind moves overhead. And the sun hitting roofs and sides of buildings over shorter periods mean less “stored heat”.

Some of it can be alleviated by having trees along the sidewalks. Since they help disperse wind and creates shade for the concrete/asphalt that store heat a lot longer.

EDIT: If you have more “random” road layouts with trees, there’s less sun heating up the sidewalk and road. And the wind is more likely to be pushed around and prevent hot air from stagnating or circulating in an area.

  • Jokes aside, that’s actually beyond amazing for the future. They’re documenting photon to photon and photon to nucleus interaction from near-misses, that can eject a small number of neutrons and protons. And they create gold from lead on lead nucleus near misses for a split second.

Although I can already see the pop-science headlines about how they’ve discovered “Matter conversion” and they’ll be “printing gold”. And then buried at the bottom of the article there’s some line about how it would take two centuries or so to reach that point.

  • Indeed, they specifically called it genocide when it was announced. And they voted against their leadership who only wanted one of those “culture and academic” boycotts(a small part of the leadership also wanted to call it “unimaginable suffering” instead of genocide). But the people voted 240 in favor and 69 against an economic boycott. They’re also backing up the UN’s demand of the occupation ending by September. At which point they want Norway to initiate an international boycott if it has not happened.

They have some ties to the current major political party, the Labour Party, who’s leader said he “disagreed”.

For reference, this an “umbrella organization” with two dozen smaller unions totaling over a million people, out of Norways 5.5m total population. They represent around 35% of working adults, meaning that if they go into strike, the country shuts down.

EDIT: It should be mentioned that this was at a yearly conference, which is also why it didn’t happened sooner.
