My criteria for thinkpads is “is it a thinkpad.” Usually I can find one for dirt cheap that works really well. Swap out the drive, if it supports libreboot, add some ram, as long as the CPU is OK it doesn’t really matter to me. I bought an x260 the other day from a rando on the fediverse for 80 bucks that I was going to give to a kid but is now my main workstation. I didn’t even change anything, it’s as powerful as I need.

damus.io, snort.social and coracle.social seem to he popular sites, but nostr isn’t sites like the fediverse is. It’s a network made up of relays and clients, and the clients can be web clients or they can be applications on your phone or computer. I’m partial to client applications, but to dip your toes in going to a web client like the ones above work good.

Dude that entire Wikipedia article is a wild ride. It has got to be one of the most bizarre Wikipedia articles I have ever read. I remember reading it a while back and thinking, wow, some guy that knows about this stuff inside and out just wrote an article about how to develop a nuke. It’s a walkthrough on building out a nuclear program. The level of detail in it is astonishing. I’m very happy to live in a world where I can just access whatever information I want.
