My work PC is affected. Nice!
Also explains why Steam is still a 32-bit binary and didn’t get ARM port on any platform.
I think the point is that with this kind of upkeep costs it’s hard to argue that Steam sales cut is fair, especially given near-monopoly in PC gaming space.
I guess it’s fine as long as EPP led governments in Poland and Lithuania do this, just not Orban because he’s a bit of an ass.
Glad to hear, thanks for the update.

We hate russia but half of draft aged men would escape Poland before breakfast if war broke out. We don’t own anything and have no say in anything so why would we fight to protect fortunes of the wealthy? There is no sense of community in this nation.
“Vote for us or russia wins”. This is probably the worst election campaign I’ve ever seen. Yeah, PiS is a bunch of thugs that has very high tolerance for people that could be working on behalf of russia. At the same time PiS government provided Ukraine with most tanks out of any nation. What PO is doing is just fucking irresponsible, take a look at this this ad they aired a day after Fico was shot.
And that’s not even the most depressing thing. PiS and PO keep calling each other russian agents but won’t even mention far right Konfederacja that has obvious ties to Putin because they could be their coalition partner one day. PiS courted them prior to and after last elections but ultimately they wouldn’t have majority anyway. PO knows that if New Left ever grows balls and quits coalition there won’t be any other way to remain in power.
Personally I’m partial to free pizza.
Every piece of hardware in a given budget is ultimately a product of compromise. 3D capabilities of N64 are way beyond what PS can offer - texture filtering and Z buffer just put Playstation to shame. No CD is equally embarrassing to N64. The controller… well, it was a weird time.
You have to commend courts for prioritizing russian values (like wife beating) over an opportunity to send them to jail and then back into the meat grinder.
Google and Microsoft are important here. They both manufacture AI chips and sell compute via Cloud and Azure. I’m surprised Amazon is not onboard but this might be enough.
I was surprised too, I knew of them but didn’t know they were this huge given that Aliexpress is more popular here (I think).
I was curious how this was received on European community on that commercial Lemmy-like site. It’s got about same amount of upvotes as it does on Lemmy XD
With the way process node naming schemes went completly meaningless while still being expressed in nanometers I expected double digit to mean 0.9%.
Ding ding ding
It will not be economically viable once AI companies have to pay for their training data. So far they made some deals with press/media but multimedia is a can of worms that’s waiting to explode in our faces. So far they’re getting away with this because doing things and then asking for permission / forgiveness is a very Sillicon Valley thing to do.
Technology itself seems to be in a plateau. The whole AI computer thing is just moving computation offline because amounts of energy needed are unsustainable and have to be dumped on consumers. We haven’t seen that much progress since ChatGPT took the world by storm.
I’m not saying AI is a fad. It’s revolutionizing medical research for example, and those industries actually own the data they’re training AI on. EU sees this and is currently working on streamlining exchanging this data across member states too.
You’re not entirely wrong but it’s a very shallow take. Left is conscious of lower classes because it’s rooted in egalitarism. Some right wing parties, especially Christian democrats are socially conscious because it’s the right thing to do. Liberals should be treated as a separate thing that boils down to “every man for himself”.
PiS was neither, they bought votes by starting social programs right before elections. It wouldn’t be so bad if they weren’t so inept at solving actual problems. In the end they were just throwing money at people to solve problems on their own.
Left favors systemic solutions so PiS had more in common with liberals, especially when you consider their tax reform that cut down taxes for nearly everyone. Thankfully their monetary policy was not liberal level of brain dead so regardless of that they reduced debt by a lot.
It’s a new blockchain. It’ll fizzle out but we’ll come up with a new buzzword by then.
How are the decisions taken by the highier-ups related to workers unionizing?
