“Hi honey, how was your day?”
“Terrible. I accidentally became a falconer and you know how hard I’ve been trying to avoid falconry recently. I thought I was safe.”

If you white knuckle past the point of burnout, you eventually start getting out of bed again to do hobbies. But only hobbies that feel useful and needed, and only if done feverishly so your brain can’t dwell on feeling burnt out and all the fun is gone. Dunno, maybe it’s just me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Disclaimer: It doesn’t go so well for people who wish to remain employed :/
Yeah, it’s the pressure of needing tasks completed immediately and the obvious importance/need to remove the stress-causing thing.
It’s a perfect recipe for hyperfocus and also why I can’t set my own deadlines–because I know it’s all wibbly wobbly when there isn’t a hard deadline from an external source. I’d be rich if I had a dollar for every time I wished someone would just tell me when something is needed instead of asking me to give an estimate.
If the task feels like boring busy work or bullshit and no one told me otherwise, you’ve got fuckall chance it’s getting done.
You’re right about the leather processing. I didn’t consider that.
I heard there’s a new mushroom-based leather alternative that will hopefully get traction.
I’ll say many cities have a club that rents out supplies or even has club hives you can use to get started. Also, I don’t live in a huge city and I’ve seen used hives and frames for sale more than I thought I would, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for those as well.
Here’s my weird question: if faux leather is plastic and someone is vegan for environmental reasons, would leather be preferable? What if it’s a byproduct and would otherwise be trashed? These are things I think about as someone who tries to reduce my impact on the environment as much as I feasibly can in a capitalist society.
I feel so kindred with the way you see things. You’re making an observation and you’re curious about the “why” of everything. I feel people often read my similar interest in a subculture as critical. Kind of like how bluntness can be perceived as rude, I guess. Do you ever have a similar response happen to you?
Not just vomit but a snowball train of vomit.
Beekeeping family here: who the fuck clips bee wings?
Haha it took me a long time to figure out you meant “sweat.” I was busy trying to wrap my head around excessive swearing as a symptom lol
That preview thumbnail of the bunker looks like it was shot by Stanley Kubrick.
Ah yes, the Covid strategy employed by many.
What about grizzly bears?
I have two types of podcasts: those I listen to when doing work that is pretty mindless so I can focus on the podcast, and those that are entertaining but not important enough that it matters if I miss something while reading directions or thinking through next steps on my project, etc.
Come to think of it, I have one other category, actually, which are podcasts that are interesting but get a big backlog because I’m not that excited about them. I use those to fall asleep.
Because they’re gobbling up the mainstream media narrative that labels both progressives, and women who are politicians, as irrational and naive. AOC gets the whole venn diagram of bullshit thrown at her.
Yes, even women can internalize misogyny. You only have to go as far as your local fundie churches to hear women saying FeMaLEs are too emotional to be president or that women should be subservient to their husbands because women just no brain good compared to men.
PSA: Stock Android phones, since… maybe Android 12.x or so(?), have a Lockdown mode in the power button shortcut menu that disables bio unlocks and forces pin or password.
Woah, that’s expensive AF. I think forming an LLC in my state is like $25 and then nothing except tax burdens on revenue.
Yes, so fucking stupid. I was looking for a way to report it as not a kids video but there weren’t any options that didn’t also flag it as something inappropriate.
Is she a ghost?
