  • I’m far left, but I actually don’t hate on the 2nd Amendment. It was a pivotal moment in US history, fortifying the power of the people and its rule over government.

But at the time the 2nd Amendment was written, the most powerful weapon that the average person would have had access to was the flintlock musket. The flintlock had a relatively short effective range of around 50 to 100 yards and took time to reload after each shot.

It would stand to reason that much stronger laws are required to compensate for the amount of fire power available to people now.

Lol, then what are they saying?

We know they aren’t literally saying those words, but that’s because they do not think they are racist.

They think it’s okay to discriminate against someone because of their skin color or nationality. It’s their right.

They think it’s alright to impose their beliefs on others without middle ground. It’s my god’s word.

They think there’s nothing wrong with a little sexual abuse and misconduct. Happens all the time, get over it.

They think those things, and they are of course wrong. So while they don’t use the words you describe in your comment, in actuality, that is indeed what they are saying.

Maybe - but “memes” like this don’t have the remix portion. It doesn’t even really have the copy portion, because this is more like a repost - the OP didn’t copy this tweet to make a similar but different point, they’re just sharing a tweet on this Lemmy community. So by this definition, it’s not really a meme.

If this were a meme, I’d be able to take it, change some key words while maintaining the general cadence, and a similar outcome with an alternate context. You can’t really do that with this screenshot of a tweet.
