These mental gymnastics are a product of electoralism. When you live in a dictatorship disguising itself as a democracy, the failures of the system must be individualised. They will tell themselves “we must simply vote harder, that’s the problem”.

In reality, we are a society obsessed with violence. The average USian rejects basic human compassion, in order to justify the bloodshed we as a society are all responsible for.

In such a society the only people that would succeed would be furthering that brutality. Even if they say they won’t, such is the illusion of the 2 party system.

A just society wouldn’t trust any person as a representive, that is a recipe for corruption.

I think the worst sentiment to come out of “leftist” bickering is that slavery is human nature. That is possibly the worst justification for capitalism one could come up with, and also incredibly small minded. The mental gymnastics that conclusion requires could only be done by someone with a seething hatred for humanity as a whole. Like if anything it’s the increasingly shrinking 10% of the human population, the wealthy, that are turning against human nature. It fucking infuriates me seeing people blatantly deny the truth so they can hate the people around them. Literally no different from a racist.
