Oh I definitely knew. I swore off that system after I spent hours repairing a rootkit on my families multiple computers only for it to happen again a week later.

I moved to Unix and only run a bare bones 11 install for games which is almost not even necessary anymore

  • Not that I’m aware of but the extreme lack of knowledge regarding Android privacy is enough to set off alarm bills in my head that this is not an application I want to be using. Along with the fact the app is closed source in the developer doesn’t want to open source it it makes me just highly suspicious. Gives me the feeling the developers not in this for the right reasons.

Especially when you considering that on iOS to download applications you have to sign into an Apple account so it’s tracked that way.

There’s no such need to do such a thing on an Android phone so personally I just would not recommend this app. I think the web based Alternatives respect privacy better and have the same functionality.

  • This developers kind of dumb. Especially their reasoning for not supporting Android when it’s completely possible to develop applications that do not utilize Google notifications. I’d be wary of this app and while it’s probably better than nothing there are better alternatives.

I was using one the other day that I really like that was web-based that sent notifications to your phone via the browser push. Let me see if I can go find that.

    Edit:

This is what I would use https://stopice.net/

  • I really appreciate this extra context.

You’re right. The Safeway Union fought hard for the gains that they did get and we should be proud that they were able to extract any concessions in the Imperial core.

It sucks they didn’t get better than what they did get but the fact they were able to extract anything is better than most workers in the United States get anyway.

I really appreciate you highlighting the specific points of where they were trying to twist and hide things. That’ll make it a lot easier for me and hopefully others to identify these type of things in the future.

  • Man it feels like this article could have been written about the United States itself.

The conscription stuff is kind of unique except that multiple countries in NATO also use conscription so 🤷

This feels like it’s straight up came from an article about the United States military:

For idealistic youth once drawn by patriotic fervour, the realization is sobering: they are entering not a dignified profession, but an institution hollowed out by greed and favouritism.

Veterans’ post-service struggles only deepen the discontent. Many return to civilian life underemployed, disillusioned, and ignored.

Aren’t these also major major problems in European militaries?

  • That’s a very interesting viewpoint.

I thought this type of publication would have a lot of Trust behind it because it’s supposedly focuses on worker rights And it’s supposed to be anti-capitalist in nature.

We have seen times where unions did work with companies and screwed their constituents out of a good deal. Unions don’t always work for the betterment of everybody since they are susceptible to Elite capture.

  • I was reading somewhere that apparently there is an override for the fuel switches so they can be turned freely maybe they could have accidentally be bumped but from what you’re saying that doesn’t sound very likely.

Even if they made a mistake it could also be to something like drowsiness. that would mean they would have made a mistake but it’s not their fault that the mistake was made in the first place.

The NTSB has managed to investigate and come up with pretty decent conclusions on crazy or things so I’m hoping they’ll have something better in the final report.
