0F is not ocean freezing, is the freezing temp of a brine mix that he chose arbitrarily (some think that he chose that temp because it was close to the coldest his town had ever been and he used it to calibrate the scales of his thermometers)
FYI, the ocean freezes at around 28F
The 0 in Fahrenheit was based on nothing and the 100F was supposed to be human temperature but it is off by some degrees
The water is not an arbitrary temperature, the weather is water dependant, at 0C the water will freeze and you get snow/ice instead of rain

- secretly incredibly fascinating. They talk about a simple topic and expand it with a lot of trivia and the hosts are very funny.
- 99% invisible. Mostly about architecture that you don’t notice but they give a lot of cool info (lately some episodes get off topic or I simply don’t like them but they have a huge archive that I listen to)

1·4 months agoNo it doesn’t, it means that under those conditions, about 50% of the times it has rained in that area
Weather.com also has real-time alert . You get notifications for rain about 30-40 minutes in advance based on specific location

Also, the number of asylum seekers arriving at the borders are making the path to residency and citizenship slower for the people already in the US. Processes that usually took a week are now on hold for 4 months or more because a lot of resources are used for the asylum seekers (yes, government should hire more people)
211·5 months agoI was discussing that with my parents a few nights ago, they claim that I’m a pessimist because I don’t want to bring children into this world but my hometown used to have about 5 snowdays a year, now is one every 5 years. The summer was hot but bearable and now the “heat dome” is a normal thing every year, and even when it rains it’s usually catastrophic with large hail and flooding
