Tesseract@dubvee.org•Finally Got the Media Browser Integrated! 🎉English
0·1 year agoGot #1 and #3 completed.
The search feature is way more handy than I was expecting.

And you can now insert images as if they’re custom emojis:

Tesseract@dubvee.org•Finally Got the Media Browser Integrated! 🎉English
0·1 year agoThere’s a few more things I want to add to the media browser if I have time:
- [Work in Progress] Add “Search” button in the media item viewer action list. Will search for any posts or comments that use that image URL. This will help you both avoid deleting media for active content as well as finding a post/comment you made with that image (if you want to see the context).
- Add image to favorites. Basically there will be a second tab you can show that’s just images you’ve favorited. These can be quick reference ones, such as reaction memes.
- Add option to insert the image using the custom emoji syntax. This would basically let you create your own custom emojis.
Update: All 3 of these have been added.

Fediverse vs Disinformation@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Biden staffers admit what we all knew: White House lied about ceasefire efforts

Fediverse vs Disinformation@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Biden staffers admit what we all knew: White House lied about ceasefire efforts
1·1 year agoGiving a garbo source the benefit of the doubt on an article-by-article basis just muddies the waters and gives an air of undeserved legitimacy to other things they publish.
Credibility and trust are built over time; throwing out a “look, THIS article is okay” every so often does not make them a credible source.
If the facts are solid, then there should be at least one other reputable source reporting on them. If only a sensationalist rag is covering it, maybe ask why that is.
I notice you aren’t disputing the facts here, just the source.
This is the same argument I’ve seen used by people trying to legitimize Fox News and RT, BTW.

Fediverse vs Disinformation@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Biden staffers admit what we all knew: White House lied about ceasefire efforts
1·1 year agoIt’s not what you’re posting but where you’re posting it from and their track record. Post it from a less biased, less sensationalized, more reputable source and I would guess those complaints will largely go away.
Nobody complains when I post one of thousands of fact checks
Those have all been from credible sources.

1·2 years agoAs I understand it, yes, that is the intent of the policy. However, as-written and presumably as it is to be enforced for all mods LW-wide, it has wide-reaching implications with worse side-effects.
Basically, the proper tool is a scalpel and they brought out a machete.

1·2 years agoGood truly unpopular opinion, and mostly good discussion on the points made. That said, I think pretty much all the points that were going to be made have been made. Locking thread.

2·2 years agoI’ve been using this one a bit more during these federation backups. I can’t really adopt it as my daily driver, though. My home instance is the one I run, so I tend to favor it. lol

Political Memes@lemmy.world•Why anyone would think otherwise is beyond me
42·2 years agoOh, I was just lamenting that such a garbage post is contributing to the backlog because of the activities it generates (which LW has to federate out since its “owns” the community this was posted in). Basically a potshot at a low-effort, shit take of a post.
Admiral Patrick@lemmy.worldto
Political Memes@lemmy.world•Why anyone would think otherwise is beyond me
4·2 years agoIt’s a Lemmy thing. Basically latency limits the maximum number of activities that can be sent per second (they’re sent like TCP: serially, and each must be acknowledged). When LW has a LOT of activities to send out, they can get backlogged if there’s significant latency between LW and other federated servers.
That’s the gist of it, anyway.

That whole site is an unholy mixture of religion, conspiracy, and Elon Musk. It’s bonkers.
Basically if you see tiblur [dot] com, you can pretty much just report it as spam.

2·2 years agoThere’s an amazing bakery near me that’s like that. People have just kind of adapted, and it seems to work well for the business. They start at like 4 in the morning to bake everything they’re going to sell for the day, open at 7, and are pretty much always sold out by 10:30 or 11.
If I recall, I think they do a lot of catering, so the part of the shop that’s open to the public is kind of an afterthought. I’m never able to get there when they have the good stuff, but it’s an amazing treat when someone from the office stops by early in the morning and brings a box of something.

I did but was talked into at least maintaining it.
