I’ve been slowly digging into their discography recently and holy crap Ska is so funny because it’ll be a bopping tune but then you catch the lyrics and find it’s a song about war, death, collapse, etc.

This music video definitely embodies that same disconnect. Cute animal animation with bopping music except wait what are those people doing? What are those animals doing? Oh my is that how this ends?!

That’s a lot of time to figure out an escape plan and execute it!

This was the premise of the Greek myth of Tithonus

In short, Eos fell in love with Tithonus, a mortal prince, and begged Zeus to grant immortality to him (but forget to specify eternal youth and eternal health) so she was forced to watch him age until he shrunk into a raisin and was eaten

There’s a group called Improv Everywhere that used to do really creative flash mobs like the No Pants Subway ride where they would all claim to have forgotten to put on pants that day, or going into a cafe and lugging 90s desktops in and dialing in, or during the Great Recession they had a suicide jumper on a 2ft high ledge which they dramatically had to talk down.

They once tried to do a “writers against libraries” stunt but it ended up not being funny enough because people kinda went “oh yeah libraries are kinda weird in that they just give out books for free”

Now yes, but it was briefly the basis for Firefox OS, which was almost early enough to the market to become a major player, but unfortunately too late and people were already attached to some apps they used regularly

The craziest thing is new archeological discoveries keep pushing modern humans further and further back into pre-history. Almost makes me wonder if we’ll come full circle and go “yeah humans did in fact coexist with dinosaurs, and here’s proof at least one rode one” /hj

You think you have had an entire life, but in reality your brain was just formed moments ago. And it may possibly stop existing in a few more moments, this moment being the only one the brain has actually experienced.

Actually the universe was created on Jan 1st 1970. That’s why computers sometimes have errors with pre-1970 dates, it’s the universal simulation glitching due to the high clock rate of computers compared to the universe’s. Anyone who claims to have been born before 1970/01/01 is a simulation that’s lying to you, and anyone born after is real, hence why now that its more player characters than NPCs things are going off the rails politically and socially!

I learned way too quickly who the posers were and who wasn’t after I started messing around with a girl in highschool. It was very eye opening realizing that very few of my classmates had gotten anywhere near even just a romantic/sexual connection with someone of their preferred gender

Among many other duties I manage the safety and claims database for an outsourced industrial cleaning company and let me tell you, some of the plants my company works struggle to make it a week without an accident, meanwhile some will go years without an accident. We also have one plant which had its last accident during the Bush Administration. Its absolutely wild how much safety can vary from one industrial facility to another

My only experience being high was I met up with some friends where schedules only aligned for the one evening, and I had 2 conflicting goals: try some THC and play with some servers with the other computer nerd in the group. Trying to remember the commands and workarounds for weird hardware+distro compatibility quirks while my brain was soup was quite an experience!

Best part of college is how hands on your degree courses are, since they’re trying to prepare you for work in the real world

When I went back to college with a new baby, a 2 year old and at times being the sole income for my family, I attended the free yoga courses offered at the school and found that was incredible for managing the stress I knew I had and the stress I didn’t realize I was carrying with me. Plus you can approach yoga as “improving your flexibility” in addition to stress management

Literally just yesterday my wife learned of Minetest’s existence and said it was a terrible name
