Totally unsurprising. Calgary is a car-centric urban sprawl of the worst sort. Entire urban districts are completely cut off and surrounded by either large stroads or actual highways. There are some houses near my grandparents place that literally live on a highway exit ramp. My sister came with us once while we were visiting and I took her for a drive around the city - she was in awe at how poorly planned the city is, and we are both from Vancouver which is a circus even on the best days.
$1mil isn’t even going to make a dent in this. Not even make a scratch. It won’t even pay for 1/8th of the initial investigation to determine where to best place the scratch. Calgary has sunk billions into horrible urban planning decisions and they continue to do so every day. That entire city is one giant web of stroads.
Affinity Photo is an excellent Photoshop alternative. I switched a while ago and have used it for all of my major projects since.
This is by design. Decades of eroding education and critical thinking have produced a populace that is highly ignorant and extremely easy to manipulate.
There is a reason why attacking education is the first thing any right-wing government does.
I hate cars as much as the next person here, but we know next to nothing about this person other than a single sentence statement from the police. And also charges haven’t been laid yet because the investigation is still ongoing and likely hasn’t been sent to the crown counsel yet.
He isn’t. He can’t be; not the way he has handled them.
Bringing industry and manufacturing back to US soil is actually not a bad idea at all but it’s a problem that needs to be tackled smartly and over a period of time so businesses can react. He is trying to force decades worth of economic migration in the span of a few months. For (hopefully) obvious reasons, that is impossible and the US economy is about to collapse.
And considering Trump, along with Musk at DOGE, have systematically destroyed economic and social safety-net programs… the aftermath of this is going to be catastrophic. The only way Trump is “right” about these tariffs is that they are an intentional sabotage of the US economy so him and his wealthy backers can cash out as the walls come crashing down. That is the goal and it’s going according to plan.
I’ve noticed a few intersections around me have put up “Yield to bicycles when turning right” signs.
Sad that a basic fundamental rule of driving needs its own dedicated sign. It’d be like having a sign that says “Proceed on green”.
There are. It’s just the US is a large car-centric country which makes travel difficult and the ruling party controls almost all of the media and thus there is a media blackout on protests.
Fish do too. Fish have pressure sensors down the lengths of their bodies they use for navigation, sensing prey and predators, and communicating.
My gouramis are making clicking noises in their tank as I type this. Love those things.
Myths like this have always made me kinda angry. Anybody that has owned fish for more than a few days could easily say that this isn’t true at all.
But aside from that - animals simply wouldn’t exist if they were that stupid. The world is a dangerous place, especially underwater. Not having even basic memory and pattern recognition would be a one-way flight to extinction.
Depends on by whom and how long. The US produces a lot of things but also imports a lot of critical goods and materials as well.
If Canada, Mexico, China, and the EU & UK all banded together for sanctions or embargoes? The US economy would be pushing daisies pretty quick. Especially if the actions were coordinated and did not give the US time to react and adjust.
But the countries issuing those actions wouldn’t be in good shape either. Trade wars are a 2-way street.
This is why blaming conservatives or getting them to admit fault doesn’t work. It only makes them become more defensive and entrenched.
A better approach is to appeal to their victim complex. IE: Instead of “Trump is ruining this country and its your fault for voting for him!” try “Dude, Trump is screwing us! This isn’t the great America we were promised!” or some variation of that. Gotta use different tactics.
There are. Heaps of them.
The US is just a big place and very spread out. And the ruling government and its media conglomerates are trying to keep them out of the media.
I love Pickles ;-;
The Convoy being a rights movement was a skin-deep excuse for what it actually was. It did not take long at all before it turned into a general anti-vax fascist movement that saw significant funding and support coming up from the US.
trying to flush a turd but it keeps floating back up to the surface.

X competitors like Bluesky, Threads, and Mastodon have so far remained active and accessible, giving X users alternative platforms to jump to while X works on its issues.
Why wait? Jump ship and never look back!
Autocracies are short-lived power grabs by certain people or groups of people. They pillage what they can, oppress who they want, and then run or fall when the walls start closing in.
Many have come and gone during our history on this planet. Many more will rise and fall.
That explains all the AI crap they’ve been chasing for a while now. They’ve been trying to juice up the value to make it look appealing to potential buyers because you can basically slap “AI” on anything and it instantly shoots up in value.
Discord is effectively dead if this goes through.
I’m guessing the executives of those companies intended to take the kickback Trump promised them and other rich folk and then flee into the hills with their money.
They’re in for a good shock when the US economy implodes and the USD starts to tumble.
LGR is a classic. He’s a great, honest guy and runs a good channel with good content. Financed by views and memberships/Patrons; I don’t think he does any sponsorship deals at all.
He’s an old-school kind of Youtuber that sticks to what he does and doesn’t overreach or grow too fast like so many channels do.
