It’s exactly like this for me as well. The barrier to start tasks is lower, and the anxiety about all the “should do” tasks is not there, as well as the lack of anxiety when finishing something and thinking “but I have way more to do”.

So combined the mental load is way less, so I have energy to do more.

Tl;dr I have energy to do more, the ability to do more, and the rewards of doing more.

Yeah. Some imposter syndrome in there for sure. Years of “you can do even better (at school etc) if you just apply yourself” is hard to overcome.

I’m working on the negative self talk. I intelectualize a lot, so logically I know I do a good job, but I don’t feel it. So when I get 'attaboys it makes that disconnect very conscious, and I’d feel better if they just didn’t say anything.

I did the same thing in my last job. My manager thought I did excellent work every day, and said things like “good work” at the end of the day when I was on reddit for 5 hours.

I did amazing things that was above my position, so my work was excellent, but it felt so wrong when he said good job when I was pretending.

  • I enjoyed it. Watched it randomly on TV every time it happened to run, and even rewatched all seasons in order a few years ago.

I’m an autistic nerd, so their setting is interesting to me, and I find the parody of the nerd scene on point. The humor is enough to make me laugh, although not a masterpiece, so overall decent series to watch.

I agree with your arguments. We’re on the same side of all of this.

I disagree on having to remove one if both are bad. It would be like the trolley problem. 10 people suffer repeatedly indefinitely vs infinitely many suffering eventually. Moving all use to sugar cane will be worse for the environment than spreading some honey and some sugar cane. See my previous monocultulturalism point.

Personally I think honey vs sugar cane is equal, so for me the choice is bad either way. I don’t know which is worse, I try to use less, but what I use I feel is ambivalent, so I use both.

I am not vegan, but simply trying to understand how honey is bad, but as you say “unavoidable collateral damage of agriculture” or not.

There are many ways agriculture could be less harm, less pesticides, less monotone growing practices, more spread out growing. We do not have to accept these practices to not starve.

I don’t think honey collecting is worse than agriculture (even of direct plants for human consumption), so I don’t think vegans should discount honey.
