Where I live it’s frankly too dry for uniform grass lawns and dandelions will completely take over if left alone. I’d be fine with it if I didn’t find the green jagged leafed plant and milky red stems so fugly, never mind the nice yellow flower.
I’ve been overseeding with white clover and native wildflowers since moving in both of which thrive in the spring choking out dandelions naturally. Puts nitrogen back into the soil too unlike grass.
All I do is aerate now.
Better for the bees in two ways. One, I’m not spraying chemicals and two, dandelions are actually pretty shit tier from a bee perspective.
Sixty@sh.itjust.worksto Weird News - Things that make you go 'hmmm'@real.lemmy.fan•Shipment of thousands of chicks found abandoned in USPS truck now overwhelming an animal shelterEnglish4·17 days agoI muse sometimes that humans generally have some Divine Guard Rails style of cope to ignore thinking about this as if we could never completely wipe ourselves out on the 99.9% extinction rate planet with an unavoidable expiry date thanks to how stars work.
Sixty@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever had the realization mid-argument, that you were very wrong?English1·18 days agoYes. My partner at the time had brought something up and I started to disagree.
Mid retort I realized I was speaking from my shitty upbringing again, paused to mull that over, and then rejected my own retort right there in front of her.
It’s not often anymore, but I’m still surprised by the occasional stupid idea put into my head by religious indoctrination as a know nothing child that I have to deprogram from even decades later.
How did your interlocutor react?
She values my ability to self reflect on the spot like that, so she reacted with love.
How would you like someone to react if you concede errors?
Without malice.
This photo gives me anxiety lmao.
Committed to the bit tho, gotta respect.
Some of them genuinely seem to be in some weird form of denial I can’t understand. I lost a friend from his slide during covid who would fit this. Self identified moderate who only ever defended right wing views and the worst of the grifters.

It’s not the same of course, but Cost of Living is a disaster here too, it’s why the youth are moving rightwards probably dooming us too unless Carney turns this shit show around.

Aliexpress mobile CPU frankensteined onto desktop micro ATX. Staying with 1440p. Buying used parts. Last gen GPU for 1440p has been fine. But that’s Canada, I know Australia is even worse off with tech prices.
Sixty@sh.itjust.worksto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•When society completely transitions to cash-less, what happens when the power goes down? End of the world?English2·27 days agoHumans don’t plan ahead for preventables and get angry if you diminish current QoL for long term safety. We know this. Earth getting a direct hit solar flare ends civilization. There’s no divine safety guard rails, we’d just be fucked. Probably not extinction though. Just a lot of violence, extremism, and starvation getting to that point of very diminished stability again.
I like your use of “when” because it is fairly likely to happen one day. It already has, and Morse code had just been invented IIRC. Not that long ago, just wasn’t a big deal then.
Did you hear the news about definitive proof of rogue black holes? Billions of them exist in the milky way it is thought now zipping around fucking shit up.

I don’t mean that in a dismissive way. Actually think about it.
Martin Luther complained about rampant pedophilia centuries ago. Expecting change at this point…
Ah I did similar with a broken furnace logic board from 2004. Carrier still made the boards, but wanted $250 and none of the components used on the dang thing justified that besides them knowing most people have no choice in the moment.

It’s great advice, and realistically how any serious attempt at a workshop or garage starts off unless you’re filthy rich.
I was expecting a rubber dome switch to have turned into goop from the rubber going bad. I wonder what the blue goop was. Slurpee? Haha.

Maybe it’s lifelong or takes decades to never feel it again, never looked into it.
Easy to start smoking. Just live a life where you want to die every day for awhile and have somebody offer you a smoke during a break at work. Oooh, overly specific! I’m in a better place these days. Pretty easy to stop honestly the withdrawal isn’t particularly powerful. Buuut it’s persistently there waiting for a day of weakness. Much much harder to stay quit.
