Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•The clueless people are out there among us
31·1 year agoI mean makes sense, there is a big Chunk of population in the USA who don’t have the means and opportunity to travel abroad and get used to the other electrical outlets in other countries.
Hell I think 30% of the adults in there haven’t ever been abroad once on their lifetime.
Understandably, it’s going to baffle more than one person who gets shared those travel experiences from traveling acquaintances

20·1 year agoThe good thing about this is that everyone who saw the rock movie knows the timing for the boiler room doors so they can easily escape
Sex sells. For a given character, their specific character designs are basically the only reason to be there. It’s like a third of the reason why people play (second being the game is fun, first being the game is affordable)
You might not like it. You might gaslight yourself and others into believing it’s not true.
But it is
Look at Concord
Look at Marvel rivals

No one in their right mind would want to be, even less play as a 15 dollar Baymax bootleg in Play-Doh armor, or to look like an inner city gender slug who’s also Ronald Macdonald’s cousin.
Even less after shelling 40 bucks on it

The empire did nothing wrong
The greatest form of government is benevolent dictatorship.
The Empire is the closest thing to that, since you have a strong central government headed by a level of wisdom that could only be achieved through the force.
The rebels want to destroy that central guidance which connects the entire galaxy, and replace it with the same system that lead to corruption, war and power abuse that necessitated the Empire to begin with.
Sure, Palpatine orchestrated the Clone Wars, but it was going to happen one way or another. At least under his oversight, all of the separatists could be identified and destroyed, and the Republic would actually ve prepared to fight them.
If it weren’t for Palpatine, the separatists would have easily broken the republic and lead to corporate warlordism.
To take what Thrawn pretty much outright says, because you see the events through the Rebels point of view, on their heads they just believe the Empire is continually plotting to do harm to every innocent little guy in the galaxy.
As we clearly can see, that view of the Empire is far too dramatic.
The Empire is a effective form of government in that it kept billions of beings perfectly fed and clothed.
Day after day, year after year, on thousands of worlds, people live their lives under Imperial rule without seeing a stormtrooper or hearing a TIE fighter scream overhead.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What’s a thing you miss that you’re 90% sure was objectively awful?
2·1 year agoDo I miss physical gaming magazines? Yes, yes I do
Were they awful? Content wise, no, I actually believe transitioning to web magazines turned the whole industry into a shit show
I loved the game posters that came folded into the magazines.
So what was bad about them?
Well they pushed you too collect them.
That amount of paper cannot possibly be good for the environment

That was incredibly thoughtful of them, not gonna lie
