I don’t want to be rich, I want to have enough money to have the following:

    • Hobbies
    • A garden (even if it’s a shared garden)
    • Food on my table
    • A home
    • Maybe a vacation every couple of years

I currently have enough money for all of those except the garden because I can only afford a flat and my freeholders don’t allow you to do any gardening.

The rest of my money can go to things I also want but not directly, like:

    • A well educated population
    • No homeless people
    • No crime
    • Healthcare for all
    • Good parks and public services

I don’t need any more money than what will get me that! I’ll even take out the garden if I means I only have to work four days a week. If I had a billion dollars, what would I even do with it? That’s far too much money!

  • I am hostile to those that relish in cruelty to others. To those that engage in cringe culture, or bully others for just wanting to live their lives without harming anyone.

I’ll accept people getting heated and passionate, but I will never accept cruelty, or worse: self-righteous cruelty. Believing someone needs to be ‘punished’ for some slight and so anything is justified against them.

Basically KiwiFarms and the whole lolcow industrial complex can go fuck themselves.

  • I wouldn’t say casualties really matter when it comes to genocide, what matters is the intent. The US were quite happy to wipe out the Native Americans and didn’t exactly cry any tears as they did it, to the point where wiping out the Native Americans was such a sticking point to them that Britain demanding they not expand into Native American territory was actually a contributing factor to the Revolutionary War.

The Israelis pretend they aren’t interested in wiping out the Palestinians, but they aren’t exactly stopping the settlements driving out the remaining Palestinians and they’re certainly pretty keen on ensuring no Palestinian returns to Gaza when they inevitably annex the place. The intent is there, it’s just obfuscated.

I’d say they’re pretty similar, at least in terms of intent. Both nations want to expand because they believe it’s their god-given right to have that land, and the natives to that land need to either accept it or be ‘removed’.

  • The self-checkout at Aldi is a godsend. Way too many times I’ve been on my lunch break trying to buy a sandwich and snack, only for some old git to be using the time at the till to have a chinwag with the cashier!

By all means, have a chat with the cashier, but not when there’s a massive queue of people waiting behind you! Also, you know those shelves near the window with the sign saying “Pack here”? That’s not a suggestion. Pack your shopping away from the tills so people can keep buying stuff.

  • The only thing Twitter has over something like Bluesky is the fact that Bluesky is so milquetoast and nice that you don’t really get any of the drama you get on Twitter. Like, I never see comic fans going “Black Bolt would DESTROY Saitama in a fight!” and anime fans going “Nu uh! ONE PUNCH!” on Bluesky.

Same with Lemmy tbh. Lemmy is 80% politics, 5% memes about politics, 5% memes about Lemmy being better than Reddit, and 10% Linux.
