  • I’ll bet you could use some type of modern sealant to make a “rubber” gasket. Spooge it out onto a glass or stainless surface, shape it and let it dry. Trim to fit and viola. Bob’s your auntie.

In light of the hard times coming down the pike, we’ll all need to be more resourceful with mending and maintaining all the products that were planned to be scrap after one year (or warranty expiration).

Edit: I would also add that if this gasket touches food or food surfaces, do not use just anything that might transfer toxic elements. Also, I hang on to all sorts of stuff and have a stash of rubber bits I toss into a bin. Something could be made from that as well. My pack-rat ways are going to finally pay off. ;(

  • I would love to see some irrefutable evidence produced to convince people of that. I am inclined to think so. We already know he lied about almost everything except becoming a dictator and ejecting immigrants. He also had the disinformation apparatus and full machinations of foreign influence behind him. Can’t embody everything here but that combined with the DNC being complicit to some degree leading to a laisse faire voter block spelled disaster for non-fascist ilk. I just haven’t seen anything about voter irregularities that were supportable yet. Maybe some are just barely irregular enough to align all of it into a win. I’m not an electionologist so what the hell do I know?

  • “I haven’t been keeping up with news or what’s going on!!! I have been ordering a lot this past month for my daughters wedding… did I miss something???”

I mean Jesus TapDancing Christ. You’ve not been aware of who the president is and what he is doing??? It’s not like tariffs haven’t been in the news at all. They (along with illegal renditions and other attacks on civil liberties) have been dominating the news cycles since January. I have never been one to ignore news, so even if quite busy with something in life I read headlines at the very least. It confounds me to know some folks ignore news willfully. Some even think of it like it’s some twisted badge of honor.

I know head-in-sand people exist, but I am dismayed, baffled and extremely disappointed that they still behave the same when the house is burning down around them. Especially when this ignorance is obviously present in a large block of people in the US.
Please wake the hell up everyone, the house is on fire! (I know I am preaching [venting] to the choir in this venue.)

  • "a French lawyer and statesman, widely recognized as one of the most influential and controversial figures of the French Revolution. Robespierre fervently campaigned for the voting rights of all men and their unimpeded admission to the National Guard.[1][2][3] Additionally, he advocated the right to petition, the right to bear arms in self-defence, and the abolition of the Atlantic slave trade.[4][5][6] He was a radical Jacobin leader who came to prominence as a member of the Committee of Public Safety, an administrative body of the First French Republic. His legacy has been heavily influenced by his actual or perceived participation in repression of the Revolution’s opponents, but is notable for his progressive views for the time.

Robespierre faced growing disillusionment among others due in part to the politically-motivated violence advocated by the Montagnards. Increasingly, members of the Convention turned against him, and accusations piled up on 9 Thermidor. Robespierre was arrested and taken to a prison. Approximately 90 individuals, including Robespierre, were executed without trial in the following days"
