Everything seemed to be fine the next day. There were no forlorn bees outside any of the entrances (it was a Huge hive), and there were none hanging out at my house, where the sad boys usually spend a day or two after getting kicked out.

It was hundreds and hundreds of drunken bees. So I think they got a pass.

Did you know that the party that kicked off the United States involved the genocide of a thousand distinct nations, the intentional destruction of major civilian food supplies involving the extinction of many species, the pollution of most major water sources, the direct destruction of every single family left alive, and the rape of millions of women and children?

Did you know that the US has done this to a lesser extent in every war involving non-white people that it has been involved in since?

If you believed this was not happening, you have been fooled. You are a fool. Now, you have the chance to own up to what has been done to you, and cease being a fool.

Getting on snap and Medicaid was a huge ordeal that took months. There was so much information they wanted and so many interviews. I had very small windows to make sure I got it all done, and if I missed them I had to start all over from the beginning again. This process repeated every year.

11 days after my daughter shot herself in the face, I got a notice in the mail that I had been removed from both programs, because now that she was dead, I “made too much money”. Apparently it had gone through days before. It was fast and easy and I didn’t have to do a thing.

It was then that I realized that the whole system of hoops I had to jump through to get snap and Medicaid was unnecessary not just in practice, but it could all be done away with literally in a day. The infrastructure is actually already in place and functioning. The truth is, even the “inefficiency” of signing up was actually efficiency at being cruel. I just didn’t see it right.

I was friends with a hive for years. One year they invited me to a spring bee-kegger. Many were just dancing, but some were so drunk they couldn’t lift-off from the grass because they couldn’t avoid the grass blades long enough to get into the sky.

I started providing a lift-off service so the drunk ones could keep dancing. Some of them were so drunk they just started snuggling my hand and would crawl into the nooks between my fingers and pass out for a while before waking refreshed and hitting the dance swarm again.

When I got home my daughter ran to me and gave me a hug. She jumped back so suddenly I was worried she almost killed a stray bee hiding somewhere and got stung.

“Where have you been?!” She said to me.
“Oh, I’ve been at a bee party all afternoon. They invited me. They were very drunk. It was amazing”
“Oh, that makes sense then. You smell like the essence of flowers, but not in a good way.”
