  • Gotcha, so you are in fact implying that anyone should be allowed to say whatever they want on other people’s digital property, and cloaking it in platitudes about censorship and 1984 rah rah. Trying to be eloquent in your response doesn’t hide the substance of what you’re saying.

Side note: I always love how conservatives, “nonpolitical” people, and “centrists” evoke 1984 imagery while also claiming that liberals are a vast and powerful, but also clumsy and weak, enemy. Almost like you use the same rhetoric on your enemies that the book you jackoff to had its sheep masses believe about their fake enemy. I’m sure that realization won’t have much impact on your programmed double-think, though.

I honestly I’m surprised how much of a problem this is for people. All I’ve done is made sure to hit the “not interested” type buttons on YouTube and tiktok whenever they pop up, and I’ve run into next to nothing after like 3 times of doing that. Sometimes I’ll watch something the algorithm thinks is adjacent to ragebait or alt-right bullshit so it’ll try to feed it to me, and after not-interested’ing the video it goes back to feeding me the stuff I actually want…

Do people just not use those features or is my experience with the algorithms really that different?

The arguments some people make is that if it’s likely there’s so many other civilizations out there, then why haven’t we found any evidence of any of them? You have Great Filter and Dark Forest theories that try to explain it, both of which would likely be very bad for humanity.

But it all forgets that we really haven’t searched much of even our own solar system in incredible detail, so it’s very possible we either haven’t looked in the right places, or don’t have the tech in place to see civilizations

  • I mean your argument stumbles at the exact point of my original comment. We have no reason to think it has any form of consciousness, and therefore no reason to believe it’s omniscient. On top of that, even if it was conscious, arguing it’s omniscient because it’s omnipresent assumes that it isn’t a collection of distinct consciousnesses and is instead one giant being, which we also have no reason to believe one possibility over the other.
