  • Socialism has loads of variations. Communism is proven to not be working. Whenever someone wants a more socialist society, it doesn’t mean they want communism. Even Hitler wanted a socialist society, the word ‘nazi’ comes from national socialist. Socialism is good for society, it’s just bad for rich assholes who love to exploit others for their own wallet and power. This is clearly visible with the way Elon tries to convince others: he can only use dumb memes as he clearly hasn’t got a single solid argument to prove his point.

  • Using dirt and sand instead of loads of expensive concrete for a viaduct or faunaduct. There’s only logic with this design. More green, less concrete, cheaper, long lasting yet easily changed (like widened or moved) or removed if needed in 20, 40 or a 100 years. Concrete can crack. Plant trees on this and the roots will only make it stronger and longer lasting. The American way of using concrete everywhere really is the worst thing you can do. Look at the Netherlands, the best infrastructure in the world with the least amount of concrete. Build smarter, not bigger.

You think, so it must be. Who cares about facts and statistics. You know best, oh very wise one. By the way, what makes you come to this conclusion? Do you go to protests a lot, are you with the police, do you read a lot on Facebook on shady right wing pages, did Qanon tell you this,… I’d love to hear your support to your claim.

By the way, intervening a peaceful protest which includes children has a very very low probability of risk for police. They would think twice when the protesters are violent, but when they are peaceful they won’t hit back that hard so it’s rather safe to escalate. The cops in the task forces for breaking up protests are generally people who love to fight, filled with adrenaline and testosterone. Cops who are less eager to fight usually have desk jobs or are regular street officers.

I don’t know in what country you live, but in countries with freedom of speech you’re free to demand whatever you like, as long as you do not turn violent (except when you’re police of course).

Please stop spreading unsupported bullshit arguments based on “I think” and “looks like” when you clearly have zero knowledge of how police operate (which I do) and clearly have no clue about this protest (as you make very wrong assumptions)

It’s irresponsible for the police to abuse their power and use pepper spray on children at a peaceful protest.

Going outside has a risk of getting hit by a car. So now it’s irresponsible to take your kids outside? It’s not normal to get hit by a car, but it’s also not normal for police to use violence on non-violent protes… Oh wait, yes that indeed IS normal now, depending on the religion, ethnicity, political statement of the protesters.

Imo it’s irresponsible to have kids in the first place by the way, it’s not irresponsible though to bring your kids to a peaceful protest as no one expect police to pepper spray your kids without cause. Or at least, that is how it should be. When you claim it’s irresponsible to bring your kids because you can expect police to use violence without cause, to abuse their power even though you are there because of your constitutional right, you acknowledge the police violence without condemning it.

    You are victim blaming.

Police violence is something different then peaceful protesting. It turns into non-peaceful as soon as the police starts to use force without a proper cause. It’s called “abuse of power”. Cops love to get violent, especially when the protesters do not (so they won’t hit back).

I don’t know in what country you live. I live in The Netherlands, one of the richest countries, with police which is very mild compared to other countries. They are ‘trained’ to de-escalate, to use the least amount of violence, to try to talk first. A force they ‘try’ to be inclusive, with a reasonably high percentage of women and different ethnicities, promoting to be open to LGBTQ+.

I can tell you with certainty, they are biased and racist as fuck, corrupt, abusive, above the law.

I assume you view the world through (male) white glasses from a rich country within the EU? The cops are there to protect your rich white privilege, you don’t have a clue what it is like for poor people and people of color. Police is not what it is supposed to be in an ideal world. They should be abiding the law, enforcing the law, protect ALL citizens, be unbiased, treat everyone the same whether they are rich, poor, whatever their religion or ethnicity, whatever gender, political view, etc. They fail on all these points. Even in progressive countries like The Netherlands or Germany.

Next to that, the far right is on the rise. They love to enable and use the police to enforce their will.

Look at all the protests. The protests by the left are struck down with brute force and loads of arrests. Protests of the right are mostly left alone, with maybe one or two arrests if any. Here in the Netherlands farmers were left alone to lock down the entire infrastructure of the country, for many days, with loads of destruction (including driving a tractor into a municipality building) with barely any arrests or consequences. The cop who opened fire on a tractor which drove at him fast and refused to stop got into trouble, not the guy driving the tractor.

A hand full of climate activists blocking a single road were beaten and arrested with brute force, after which they got hefty fines.

    So fuck the police.

  • The YouTube Adam Something had similar comments. For example, the Hyperloop from Musk would be more efficient if you’d use pods on rails instead of Tesla’s, and make the pods longer like a train. It’s called a subway. Or other pod like ideas. What if you make them longer which would be more energy efficient, with one driving engine and carts behind it which you can fill with people or goods. It’s called a fucking train. Years and years of development into what we have now, then to have a stupid narcissistic scam artist wanting to reinvent something which works perfectly into some futuristic looking concept which would make a perfectly fine system broken and less efficient. “Please give me money, oh people on Kickstarter, as for I think I know better then years of evolution, research and development. Don’t do the math, trust me, I have a flashy computer animation to prove how cool my idea is. I did not finish school, my dad gave me a lot of money because he says I’m special.” Floating mega cities, pods, self driving cars, terraforming Mars, vacuum washing machines, vacuum tunnel systems, solar panel roads, etc etc etc. Next to Adam Something I can recommend ThunderF00t on YouTube. A scientist joking about Musk his stupidity and other tech kickstarter scammers, breaking their scams with science.

  • Ok so I’m not moving for the coming 10 years for sure, and if I’m moving it probably won’t be Mexico. But the climate change thing is something I worry about. I live in the Netherlands, most parts are below sea level. The dykes are being reinforced, but the plans for now are finished in about 10 years and won’t be high and strong enough in about 5 years, so we need to start to reinforce it even more 5 years before the current plans are being completed. At the same time ground water levels are getting lower, so trees are unable to get water from the ground and die, so the roots will die too and won’t be able to hold the ground together. It’s getting harder and harder pumping drinking water from the ground. Next to that, salt seawater is normally held back in the ground by the ground water, but because it’s level is getting lower while the sea level is rising, salt seawater is making it’s way into the ground, killing more greenery because it’s polluting the groundwater and making it undrinkable. So I may be forced to move, as well as most inhabitants here if this shit continues. 10 to 12 million people forced to relocate due to lack of water AND too much water at the same time. Weird AF.

  • I need to spend that much for basics, like food and a roof over my head. I’m basically a slave, I need to work most of my life without being able to build up anything. No saving, buying a house, etc.

But I’m aware I live in one of the wealthiest countries, where I do not have to fear anything no matter where I go. I’m aware I’m extremely lucky to have been born here. I’ve seen how life can be different, when I went on deployment to the Middle East and Africa. I’ve been to horrible places and have seen horrible things.

But life here is extremely expensive. We make more money, but in the end we have nothing left after we payed all the bills to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. I don’t have much to lose, as I’m depressed AF, alone as my wife left me, stuck with PTSD from when I was in the military, unable to enjoy life anymore somehow. So a holiday in Mexico where I snort loads of cocain with a bunch of hookers before I get robbed and killed doesn’t sound so bad really.
