Interesting video on Chernobyl and the people still living in the exclusion zone.

I can’t watch the video via the BBC site but it exists elsewhere.

I wanted to get more ram for my notebook however it’s soldered to the board with no extra DIMM or storage options.
It’s an old satellite from Toshiba, 4gb ram, dual core intel, 64gb emmc. Serves it’s purpose running a bare bones (ish) install of Nix.
Really hate ewaste hardware.
Ahh the old sesh-b-q. Serving up snowcones on the daily.
Poor traveler thought they’d heat it up for them on arrival.
Oh man, brings me back to blackbox / xoblite on my old XP machine.
I remember using notepad to change the config files, no auto formatting or error checking.
Had no idea what I wanted out of it but I loved the minimal aesthetic.
It’s fairly basic, am migrating to OCI containers for majority of services.
https://codeberg.org/kye/nixos/src/branch/master/serv/arr/default.nix
Will be defining paths in the OCI containers currently it’s manually configured for the most part. Mainly to do with folder perms being a bitch like networking (for me).
From my nixos config.
Corps are fucked, I’ve got no issues pirating content. If I want to support someone I’ll pay up but the majority of content is background filler for me.
Why would I want to sub to Amazon just to watch Jeremy Clarkson’s new show, where he was paid $200m to support him? It baffles the mind the volume of cash that’s thrown around in that world.
I’d much rather spend my money down the pub on a Sunday, which is owned by locals, has local beers on tap with a local solo musician jamming out the front.
For me, there’s much more value in an experience with the quirks of it being live, a quick witted bartender, a great cover, an old bloke retelling stories he’s told 100 times before, a forgotten lyric or even a snapped string on a guitar.
Or I’m starting to show my age 😎
We used Teams at the last org I worked at, we rarely had issues. The UI wasn’t bad in my eyes, we had integrated our phone system into teams too. Calling someone on the other side of the country via teams was simple.
Admittedly the service did get worse before I left and there were a couple of Microsoft outages which cut all our text based communications for a day (phone system still worked)
I’m using slack right now but would prefer something self-hosted but that’s well out of the scope of the current mob I’m with.

Strange this site still exists, thought it would have been well gone by now.
Torrent is linked in their sourceforge page.
My cheapo dumb tv died a couple of years back, was a great bit of kit for $400au that gave me 10 years. I’ve got a “smart” tv at the moment which isn’t connected to the internet, and just serves as the display for my Shield TV.
I’d probably consider an LG commercial / signage display as my next device, some old work connections can get me one as a special purchase through their distribution channels it’s just waiting out the current panel dying.
If you’ve got a m.2 slot in the mini PC you could add a cheap 5 sata port m.2 and connect them that way. If you don’t want to solder power you could really make it a butcher job and hack up the power from the sata to usb connectors.
Sucks to hear about your loss, I’ve recently lost my proxmox setup and migrated everything to Nixos. My install threw a wobbly, terminal was cooked, could only ssh into some containers so I wiped the install and migrated.
In my proxmox setup I found it easier to mount the drives as lvm to the host proxmox machine and pass them through to lxc via bind-mounts rather than adding another layer of shares / overheads.
I was a YouTube premium family account owner. Paid for myself, my partner and three friends accounts (think it was five slots?)
The recent price hike was too much, so I’ve been using frontends as of late.
The YouTube premium experience is seamless, much faster than the frontends but at the same time your getting shit shoveled down your throat at every chance.
I’ve had lots of issues with libretube servers as of late. Pipe pipe is better but overall since I dropped my sub I’ve been watching far less on YouTube as a whole.
The volume of Deathadder mice my brothers, I and our friends went through when younger due to double clicks and scroll wheel issues was absurd.
I’ve had my Superlight since their release, used every day for work and many nights gaming. No issues so far.
I’ll probs have to migrate back over, grub will be written to on every rebuild for what I’m assuming is adding entries. Not sure of the inner workings all I know is it’s caused me headaches a couple of times now.
Ahh until something hangs when updating grub. Had it happen twice over the last couple of months. No real biggie as it’s not the hardest thing to recover from / easy enough to pull my config and rebuild.
Maybe it’s me, maybe it’s Nixos or Grub.
Wait, the princess is Zelda?!
