Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what do you prepare to eat at your workplace?English
0·2 months agoI like cooking stews, but it’s gonna be a hassle to bring that to the workplace.
Stews are one of the easiest things to bring to the workplace. Their quality doesn’t degrade when eaten as leftovers, and they reheat very well in the microwave. What makes you think this would be a hassle?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why Haven't Universities Made Online Education the Standard for Bachelor's Degrees and Beyond?English
7·1 year agoWhat are your metrics for “effective?” As someone who is both teaching and taking classes currently, I can tell you engagement is pitifully low in online formats. Education is not just about memorizing facts and going through the motions to get a good grade. There’d have to be some amazing innovation in online education practices to convince me it will be the default anytime soon.

Programming@programming.dev•How should I continue learning?English
3·2 years agoDoes your school have a robotics team or something along the lines of computing? That would be a good option. Also if you are still in high school and plan on going to college, you still have plenty of time to learn.

1·2 years agoWell luckily AI researchers have achieved plenty in over 60 years. We call the ideas and innovations resulting from this research “AI.”

98·2 years agoOof, programmers calling LLMs “AI” - that’s embarrassing
…but LLMs quite literally come from the field of computer science that is referred to as “AI.” What are they supposed to call it? I’m not a fan of the technology either, but seems like you’re just projecting your disdain for ChatGPT.
I would argue that it is better to have two separate drives for the installation. It simplifies things for non tech savvy people, and I believe Windows has less of an opportunity to mess with your linux install, such as messing with the efi partition.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you think of the term "short king" as a term that's supposed to champion body positivity for men?English
101·2 years agoPersonally I do not let internet trends affect my behavior out in the real world. Why is that? Because if I use the term “short king” anywhere in the real world, 99% of people won’t know what I’m talking about. Until you hear a real person say it (that means not on lemmy, not on twitter, not on dating apps, etc. or people you meet through these platforms) you can assume that there is no real impact to be had there. I think we give way too much credit to the internet for affecting real life trends. Most people don’t care about these cute terminologies people come up with, and neither should you. The term was made to get someone attention, not to make short people feel better.

102·2 years agoDepends on how much energy it takes. If it takes more resources than it frees, then I’d say it is not worth it.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do people say "Catholics and Christians" in (USA) when Catholics are also Christians, as if they refer to it as a different religion.English
52·2 years agoProbably because depending on the context “Christians” is likely referring to “Protestants.” There are some very significant differences between Catholic and Protestant Christianity, moreso than between Protestant denominations, whose differences tend to be a bit more trivial. Other comments make some good points, but it is not too far of a stretch to say that Catholicism may be different enough to be considered a separate religion (I don’t know who gets to draw these lines). But in the most technical sense, yes, Catholics are a subset of Christians.
